Infertility

PCOS girls...

After 5 years of testing, gyno visits, 3 REs, and many different dx, my RE is pretty sure that I have PCOS.  I thought that I had this for awhile, but since I only exhibit a few of the symptoms, my other drs didn't think I had it.  After further testing, and a cycle with injectibles, my new RE is pretty sure that I have it.  I just want to know what are some symptoms other girls with PCOS have.  Thanks for sharing.  Smile

Re: PCOS girls...

  • I have PCOS.  Indicators for me were:

    * Ultrasound revealed 30+ antral follicles

    * Long cycles/anovulation

    * High testosterone (60)

    * High AMH (9.02)

    * High LH:FSH ratio (4:1)

    * Some extra weight gain when coming off the pill (though weight is still in normal range)

    I do not have excess hair issues or problems with insulin, though.

    After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

    These are me too.  Honestly, other than not getting a regular period, I wouldn't have known that I have it.  I'm not overweight (although I do have to watch my diet and exercise) and not "hairy."

    The thing about PCOS is there are wide ranges of symptoms and impacts...but hopefully, your RE can help manage the symptoms.   Good luck.

    TTC since April 2009 dx = PCOS; TTC History for DS - A FET miracle after 7 IUIs; 2 fresh transfers, and 1 other FET resulted in BFNs. Hoping and Praying for baby #2: Cycle 1 - FET; November 2012 BFN Next Steps - who knows? Lilypie Second Birthday tickers

  • My symptoms include skin tags, some excessive hair growth, hair loss(from my head) and lots of immature follicles visible on u/s.

    Bloodwork showed high levels of androgens.

    I also have a hard time losing weight, first 10 pounds are easy but then I can't lose anymore without enormous amounts of effort beyond normal exercise and eating healthier.

  • I have PCOS, dx. prob. about 3 years ago. I don't have weight issues, actually on the thin side, VERY irregular periods/annovulation, my hormones all checked out fine and I don't have insulin issues. I also have a large number of antral follicles on each ovary i think like 15+.  So, mainly just irregular cycles. Best of luck to you! It good to know your dx b/c hopefully it is treatable with meds
  • I was diagnosed with PCOS over 5-hrs ago. My symptoms were extra weight, excess hair, high cholesterol, anovulatory cycles, high antral follicle count (40+). My hormones were always normal and I'm not insulin resistant. I recently lost 40-lbs (still have 30 or so to lose) and have started ovulating on my own. Because of that and my hormone levels being in the normal range my RE told me I no longer have PCOS, even though I still have some symptoms and hih antral follicle count.

  • Dx w/ PCOS 12 years ago- then undiagnosed and re-diagnosed about 4 times in the middle.

    My issues have always been: anovulation, weight that is difficult to lose, borderline insulin resistance (passing my tests, but just barely), darkening of skin on neck, some hair growth (but not a large amount), acne-like features on my arms, and ovarian cysts (dx using ultrasound).

    Gotta love PCOS :(

  • I don't have all of the common symptoms, but I keep getting ovarian cycts (they're painful) since Nov. 2008.  I have cystic acne on my cheeks and chin.  I also have it on my back and a little on my neck and chest.  I have very thick hair and am hairy to begin with, but not on my face.  My luteal phase always stays the same (for the most part), but my follicular phase is ridiculous.  Sometimes I have a 27 day cycle, sometimes a 39 day cycle.  Also when they did the u/s, I had a ton of follies.  My FSH was 12.1, but now it's 9.5, but my AMH and Inhibin B are low.

    When I did a medicated cycle last month, I had no cysts and plenty of follies.  I think I'm not ovulating on my own.  I think I need a trigger shot all the time!Wink

    Thanks for your help girls.
