Baby Names

f/u- dh and I tentatively agree on a name- wdyt??

I posted earlier this week, dd#2 needs a name:) ... dd#1 is Elise Kathleen. We love her name for a variety of reasons. #1- family names, #2 Timeless (we think it is, anyway :) and #3- *real* names. :)

So far, there is one name we both like- Payton.  Payton Elizabeth. Elizabeth is a family name.

Wdyt of Payton? Is is timeless, classic? Or "trendy" ???

The other name *I* keep coming back to is Madeline. But our last name is French, starts with a D, and is 3 syllables and I'm afraid it would be a mouthful.

MN will most likely be Elizabeth.

And... how do you spell Payton? Peyton? ???

ETA- what about Chloe? Chloe Elizabeth?? Is that timeless?

ETA2- what about Camille? Camille Elizabeth D- -.

  • I think Payton is trendy and not at all timeless, sorry.

  • I really like it! I would spell it Payton because when I see Peyton I think of a little boy (that's my nephew's name). I don't think its really "trendy" at least not around here. It goes so well with Elizabeth too.

  • I don't think of Peyton as timeless, it's definitely on the trendy side. Madeline is much more classic and sounds nice with Elizabeth.
  • Hate Peyton I dont there is anything classic about it. trendy and cold is how i would describe it,

    Love Elizabeth

  • Okay, thanks.  I kind of think it might be trendy and that is NOT what I want. Back to the drawing board.

  • I love Camille! If you go with Peyton I would spell it with an e, not an a. To me Chloe is more trendy and modern, doesn't sound "timeless" or classic to me.
  • My niece is names Peyton, and it suits her, though it is a bit trendy.  It can also be a boys name.  Are you okay with having your daughter, Peyton, in class with a boy, Payton?  Some people love that.  I was just wondering if you are.  It is a good, solid name, though and could be a professional name.  No bad nicknames.

I wonder if you like Madeline with a long "i" or like Madelyn/Madeleine.  It is more of a classic name.  I also have a niece names Madeline (as iin Madeleine) and many people pronounce it with the long "i", which is a name I really like a lot.  It's just too bad they have to be confused.  That being said, my daughter's name is Caroline, which many people (to my surprise) want to say as Carolyn.

If you want another El name.  There is always Elena (as you can see I have another variation of that name for my other daughter) :)

Chloe is a classic name, but a bit too cutesy for my style.  Still, a lot of people love it.  It will be around forever.

  • Yeah, I would say Peyton is trendy. Madeline, on the other hand, is a timeless name (although it has become popular in recent years). IMO,  as long as you don't encourage the NN Maddy, Madeline is a beautiful choice!

I don't think Payton or Chloe are classic at all. Camille is very pretty and more classic.

Payton is unisex, trendy and not remotely classic or timeless.  I also think it's a terrrible sibset with Elise.  Camille Elizabeth is DARLING and is heaps above the other choices.  Chloe does not age well to my way of thinking at all, and it's also very trendy/popular right now.

  • I don't like Payton at all. I LOVE Camille Elizabeth! I really like Chloe too, but I just don't think it ages well. I can picture a cute little girl named Chloe, but I can't picture an adult with the name.

  • i actually really like the name peyton with an E, but not with an A, I think it flows well with Elizabeth too.  It does seem like an odd pairing with Elise, since Elise is pretty classic.

What about Elise and Audrey?  I think thats a great sibset and I like Audrey elizabeth as well.

I like Cammile but I dont love it,  like I dont know if I would want that to me my own name if that makes sense?  Cammie is cute though

Chloe is modern, not classic, but its cute pair with Elise but again, would you want your name to be chloe?

  • 3rd time is a charm!! I love Camille, and I know a n absolutely lovely Camille Elizabeth. I think it is classy and timeless and matches your DD1's name much better than trendy Payton or Chloe

  • Love Camille Elizabeth!

Don't like Payton/Peyton. Super trendy. Is it just me- I can't make this name sound pretty when I say it... like I over-enunciate it (Pay-tin) or its kinda garbled (Peightnnn). Just me? Ok... lol

Chloe is ok, a little trendy.

Madeline is very pretty, but I still prefer Camille.

  • Peyton and Camille are trendy IMO.  Chole would be a much better choice.  It's one of those names that never seems to get outdated, yet doesn't seem too popular either.

Completely agree with all of this.  I don't understand how a Payton and Elise can go together.  Your other dd's name is so beautiful!  I do like Camille a lot.

  • I think Camille is the most timeless and is just gorgeous. Payton is trendy and yuck. Chloe is adorable but sounds very little girl to me and is too popular for my taste. Love Elizabeth as a MN.

  • Peyton Elizabeth has great flow, but doesn't match Elise. And it's trendy.

Honestly, I really like all the others.

Madeline is very pretty, although very popular too, so you may end up one of 10 billion Maddies.

I'll disagree with the majority that I think Chloe is classic. It's  perhaps not totally timeless, but it's not a trendy name to me at all. I've always liked Chloe, though, and I think it's gorgeous with Elizabeth.

I'm not a huge fan of Camille (never have been) but it's pretty with Elizabeth and flows pretty well (although I worry about all the Ls.) I think it's also another classic name and goes well with Elise.

  • Sorry, none are timeless imo. What about Lauren, Julia, Nora, Gretel, or Natalie?
  • Of those four, your best choices are Camille and Madeline. There's absolutely nothing timeless or classic about Payton--it's completely trendy. Chloe hardly fits the bill either IMO, albeit it's not trendy like Payton.

Exactly this! The mother of a Peyton that I know always says it muffling the "T" sound and it comes out "Peighann" and it's like fingers on a chalkboard to me.

    Camille is lovely!

I totally disagree, I know tons of young Chloe's and think it is trendy. Camille is not trendy at all to me.

  • peyton/payton is a horrible unisex trendy name that should have stayed a last name. It isn't even pretty to say.

    Camille Elizabeth is timeless.

Chloe is overused and will be dated.

    Love Camille!

  • i agree with PP, if you truly want a classic name, go with camille elizabeth (very pretty!).

    i also like chloe, but i don't think it's a classic name.

    i don't prefer payton/peyton.

  • Peyton is the more popular spelling for a girl. However, Peyton is very trendy and not at all timeless, sorry.

I really like Camille Elizabeth. I like the nns Cam, Cami or Millie, which is my personal fav. Elise and Camille make a wonderful sibset.

  • LOVE Camille...not a fan of Chloe or Payton..
  • Camille Elizabeth YesYesYes.

Camille is classic, and IMO very beautiful. It also is the same style as Elise, and therefore would make a great sibset!

I like Madeleine okay, but strongly dislike the standard nickname Maddy/Maddie.

Payton/Peyton is NMS, because it is unisex and trendy (and not even pretty, IMO).

Chloe is NMS, because it's too cutesy for an adult.
