We just watched the movie "Life as We Know It" and it got us thinking - we don't know who our kids would go to if we both died. I know it is kind of morbid to think about, but necessary at the same time.
Yes! We decided on my parents....until they reach a certain age(hasn't been decided) so that they are not too old with 2 little kids! And in that case they would go to DH's brother.

Actually DH and I decided this long before we had kids. We had wills, financial powers of attorney and health are directives drawn up right after we got married 4 years ago. We had already stipulated who would be guardians of any future children at that time and so far have no reason to change that. We had decided to get them done right after marriage because we could get it out of the way and done for free (a nice little perk when working for attorneys).
We had wills and POA all drawn up right after their birth. The kids will go to the IL's until DH's younger brother gets settled (he just graduated college) and then we will transfer it to him.
We talked it out and my parents help out alot with my older brothers 3 kids who is recently divorced and my little brother is no where ready to take on 2 kids and DH's brother is just in a better position to care for them.

No. We don't have any options were satisfied with. My family is very dysfunctional. I can't tolerate long visits, so there's no way I could send my sweet girls to live there. My DH is an only child and his parents are getting older and FIL's already had one heart attack. My best friend is my first choice, but she's still single and my DH is trying to decide how he feels about them possibly not having a father figure. All of our options suck
Yep we had a will drawn up a few days before my c/s, just in case. We chose my h's brother and his wife. They live few miles away and would be in our school district so the kids wouldnt have to move away from their school, not that my kids are in school yet but just thinking ahead.
We've had this decided long before I ever got pregnant. My brother and SIL will be the godparents and legal guardians in case anything happens to both of us. I would be very comfortable with either of my siblings in that role, but my sister and her husband live out of state.

We have this problem. We have two girlfriends, both single (but they are best friends) who are the only ones we trust and have said they would be willing to take them. We're thinking we're going to have to go with that because even though it's not ideal, we don't really have other options.
Re: Did you pick out guardians for your LOs in case you both die?
Same here.
Yes, they will go to DH's brother and wife. They spend a lot of time with us and the kids love them!

But, I do think it's important.
