Kambel..WDYT?

DH wants to use this name if we have a boy.  I have seen it in a baby book spelled Campbell, however our last name is kinda long and I would use the Kambel spelling if we used it.  Just curious what you ladies think of it?  I like it but I'm not sure I love it yet.  Thanks!

I have a friend who named her daughter this after another friend of ours whose LN is Campbell.  I'm not a huge fan of it for either gender.

Um. No. That's not an actual name. The name is Campbell. There is no reason to change the spelling at all.

I like Campbell for a boy. I don't like the spelling Kambel...it looks strange to me. Campbell also falls into the trend of using a last name for first so I wouldn't doubt if you started to see this name more and more in the future.

On a sidenote my Grandmothers maiden name was Campbell and it is the only family name that I like enough to consider ever using

Is this MUD?  Kambel is ridiculously bad.  Campbell is NMS but okay if spelled correctly.

Well that's a little harsh...lol.  I have to agree with everyone not crazy about the spelling was just looking for a way to make it a little shorter.

2 letters does not make a big deal, I can assure you he will not get a hand cramp from it.

I'm not a fan of Campbell for a first name.  It's only a surname and a soup to me.  But if you do use it, then definitely go with the correct spelling.

I know two babies under the age of 2 named Campbell.  Both are girls.  Also, add me to the list of haters of your "creative" spelling.  If the length of the name is a concern, saving 2 letters doesn't seem like much of a savings.  Choose a shorter (properly spelled) name.

Spend some time looking at the history of the Scottish clan Campbell. Campbell means crooked mouth for a reason. I would not get creative with the spelling of Campbell.

FYI:
i have a friend with the last name Kambel. He told me the name comes from East Prussia, Germany over near Russia. His cousin used it for her son's middle name and his first name was Dravin. I would feel insulted when the person said the name is STUPID.
