DS has been invited to a few bday parties from kids at his preschool/daycare. I don't know any of the parents. It really bothers me when we RSVP yes via email (their requested communication method) and they don't respond that they've gotten the email.
Is it too hard to shoot back a "thanks, see you there" email to acknowledge you received the email?
My petty vent for the day.
Re: Pet peeve re: RSVPs
In response to your post, If someone emailed me, I did reply back with "Can't wait to see you there!"
That is my gripe for the day!
To a degree, I get what you're saying. I personally would shoot back a quick e-mail.
However, I know I'm on e-mail more often than a lot of my friends (my job is slow, slow, SLOW). I have friends who are super busy and really just don't have time to get on-line a lot. And as such, when they do, they don't have time to respond to e-mails that really don't require a response.
so, w/o knowing the full situation, I'd try not to be too annoyed.
But again, I DO hear you. I've dealt w/ this issue w/ people I know - like a previous nanny. I'd email her w/ some piece of information and while there wasn't a question involved, getting some response from her would have been nice just to know she got the message.

I usually pose a question to the person I have to RSVP to such as, "Does little Johnny have any special interests?" That way they have to respond b/c you're talking about buying a gift for their kid. See how that works? lol
But I almost always get a response back that says"Oh, Abby will be so excited Jacob will be there Saturday!" or something along those lines.
