Ok...I like different/less common names...So I need some help!!! I am 17wks and am having a hard time picking out a little girls name. I find out what I am having on April 19th and already have a boy name picked out so would like to get a girl name too.
Here are some I like...If anyone has anyothers to add to my list feel free...
Quinn
Bayleigh
Madalyn
Ilayna (German spelling for Alana)
Emma
Tessa
Callie
Re: Help!!
Quinn - Hate.
Bayleigh -Makes me nauseous, it's so bad.
Madalyn - Love it, but spelled Madelyn or Madeleine or Madeline.
Ilayna (German spelling for Alana) - Love it. My niece's name is Alayna.
Emma - If you love "different" and "less common" names, why in the world is this name on your list? It's like the #1 most common name out there.
Tessa - This is a good name. My reservations always tend to be ignored by those who really love it, so I say this is one of my faves on your list.
Callie - Sounds like a nickname. If it was a nn for something like Calliope or Calista, I'd love it. As a full name alone, I dislike it wholeheartedly.

Those all pretty trendy. The only ones I haven't heard lately are:
Ilayna
Tessa
Callie
I love authentic ethnic spellings, but I just have to say that if I saw Ilayna I would pronounce it more like l-lane-uh instead of I-lahn-uh
Love Tessa.
In regards to Ilayna.. I have to say, my family is German and I am pretty well versed in the language, and the spelling still looks odd to me. Technically, the I would be pronounced EE-lay-na in German (not Ah-LAY-nah). But spelling the name Elena is not only still quite German but is less confusing for Americans. Just a thought there. It's a pretty name!
Edited: I read your OP and realized you said Ilayna is German for Alana... no, it's not. Alana would be spelled Alana in German (I am assuming you are pronouncing Alana like Uh-LON-nuh). Ilayna is, as said above, essentially the same as Elena.

Tessa and Emma are okay, but Emma is very popular. Madeline (spelled this way) is a nice name but also very common.
I don't like the others at all.
Love the rest!
