How do you post from and Ipad?

I can get to the post screen but I can't type anything.

go to settings, under safari turn off javascript and then you are ready to post

I've heard that some people have a problem if they turn off javascript.  As such, another way is the toolbar in the post window - tap the "html" option.  Opens an HTML window.  Enter your message there.  At the very bottom on the left is an "update" button in blue (sometimes most of it is hidden, but if you can see any of it, you can hit it).  It puts your message in the window, then hit Post.
