Thyroid Biopsy today.. anyone else?

Has anyone else ever had one of these? I have to..

It's today.. the doctor said it would be mildly uncomfortable.. but Im nervous about what to expect.. I have this horrible vision that she will miss the bump and biopsy something important.. like my trachea.. I know.. crazy..

    I had one done a couple of months ago. It is uncomfortable and at points they tell you can't swallow and then all you want to do is swallow! Mine took a bit since she wasn't getting the samples she wanted, but it went fine and I had a great nurse there talking me through it all. I am super freaked out by medical procedures and I made it through without having a breakdown. I just closed my eyes and tried to think about what I needed at the grocery store and kept wondering what time it was since I needed to pick up DD soon and just tried to focus on other things. You will be okay - good luck!

    It does hurt and its uncomfortable....not going to lie but if you gave birth you'll be able to handle this.  GL!

    I had one done when I was 8 months pregnant.  It was really uncomfortable.  The numbing agent didn't work on me so I felt everything.  The worst part was actually the ultrasound thingy being pressed against my throat.  That said, the doctor tried to go as fast as possible and talked me through everything that they're doing.  I was able to watch the needle go in on the ultrasound machine (it's just as creepy as it sounds) and the doctor tried to bounce the needle as gently as possible.  I think that it took about 1/2 hour total so at least it's quick.  Good luck!

    I have had around 10 and they are fine. I don't find them too be too painful but I tolerate pain pretty well.

    I just wanted to thank you ladies for your help. I made it through yesterday. took a half an hour and I didn't break down. It was definitley uncomfortable, but it's ok. I had a baby, so I knew I could do this. The anticipation was the worst part.
