We are soooooooo exhausted (my DH and I). Bear will not sleep. He hasn't been taking naps during the day or a very short one (30 minutes). At night we put him down about 8:15 with no problems. But he wakes up every night (sometime between midnight and 3:00) and is up for 2 hours. I try to let him CIO, but then the cries become very intense, so I usually go in there to hold/rock him. Lay him down. Then he is back at it with no calming down. I try giving him a drink but that doesn't help. I've even tried bringing him out into the family room and sit on the couch to calm him down, which does work. He will fall back to sleep. But as soon as I lay him back down in his bed, he gets worked up again. We've tried holding off on his bed time, but that doesn't work either. He started swim lessons, so we thought that would tire him out, but no luck. PLEASE any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Re: Please I need help with DS sleeping
Is he teething? I would probably try some ibuprofen at night before he goes to sleep, if he is. He could also be having night terrors, DD seemed to be having these a couple weeks ago and I ended up bringing her to bed with me..which i usually NEVER do, but it was the only way to calm her down. She even held onto my hand to be sure I was right beside her...but, it only happended a couple of times, and now she is back to her old self.
Good luck!
DItto PP. I am going to guess that the reason for his being up isn't that he is NOT tired was that right - that was a lot of double negatives). I bet he gets more worked up because something else is waking him up and he is SO exhausted and upset that he is even up. This happens when DD wakes in the middle of the night - she gets even more worked up b/c she is SO over tired.
Like PP I would bet its teething or nigh terrors. Also, could be an ear infection? I would try some tylenol or something before bed or when he wakes to see if it helps him from waking in the first place. Poor thing - he is probably so tired, too.
Good luck!!!
I'm with amanda. First things that disrupt sleep at our house these days are teething & EIs so maybe get him checked & try some motrin/tylenol at bedtime for either of them. Fwiw neither of my kids tug ears or have fevers with EIs usually & we've had quite a few.
Otherwise I'd do an earlier bedtime.
It does not sound like night terrors since it seems you going to get him comforts him? Night terror screaming/crying continues even when you go & try to comfort b/c they're not awake.
GL! It is so hard
