birthday party question

If both kids are invited to 1 birthday party, should you bring one gift for the birthday child from both kids, or each kid bring a gift, for a total of 2 gifts?  I'm leaning towards bringing 1 gift from both boys, but don't want to be tacky.

Thoughts?

ETA:  its for a 1st birthday, so the child obviously wouldn't know the difference.

Re: birthday party question

  • I never thought about this until I went to a bday party B was invited to, there are triplets in her class and they came with one gift each. I think you can get something small from DS2 like a book.

  • one gift
No one else will ever know the strength of my love for you. After all, you are the only one who knows what my heart sounds like from the inside.

  • I bring one gift and just spend more money on that one gift than I would if only 1 of my kids was invited.

  • I would either get two smaller gifts or one more expensive one.

  • Depends on the situation.  My twins like to pick gifts out, so we usually bring 2 or 3, if Adam is also invited and wanted to pick something. If they agree on one thing though, I let them spend a little more on it.   Plus, if it's someone who'd be invited to their birthday, the family would likely bring 2 gifts, and I know it's not about scorekeeping, but I don't feel like it's fair for them to have to bring 2 gifts and me to only bring one.

  • I always bring 2 gifts anyway - usually a toy/movie/clothes & a book that goes with it.   (ie An Air Rocket Launcher and a "Rockets" book, or for a baby I'd get an animal puppet and a board book about that kind of animal)  Sign the card with both their names.  Sign the book with whoever is closest to the birthday child and if they are equally close in friendship, sign the book from both. If the birthday child is family, sign the book from the entire family.
