So I've only tried apples and bananas so far, but she opens wide to be disappointed and then spits them ALL back out. I tried jar first (within the 3 day time frame) and last night I tried mashed banana with BM and she still hated it.
I started off with veggies and she doesn't give me a problem with them and actually LOVES them A LOT. She is also at the point of eating about 2 tablespoons at a time.
I give her a bottle of about 2-3 oz of BM with her veggie (which is usually given to her about an hour and a half to 2 hours after she eats 4 oz of BM) and have tried to do the same with the fruit but since she spits it all back out, I wind up nursing if she is still a little hungry.
I figure that she's not used to the sweet taste of fruits yet, but not sure if I should just hold off or continue trying with other fruits.
Have any of you experienced any problems with feeding fruits to your LO? If so, what did you do?
Re: E hates fruits!
Sometimes it takes multiple exposures to food for LOs to enjoy it. I would keep trying the foods she rejected and keep introducing new fruits too. W has had a few foods he didn't like the first time but gobbled up on the second or third try. You could try different temperatures too, W prefers some cold, some room temperature, and some warm.
I also make sure to be very positive and enthusiastic when giving a food he's rejected in the past, so he makes a positive association with that food. I make up songs about the food, talk in my higher pitched baby-talk voice about how much we love that food, and say things like yum yum and nom nom a lot. It seems to help. Or, maybe I'm just fooling myself.
Thanks for the tips!
I do "Mmmm" sounds and quote Yo Gabba Gabba, which my nephew watches and say "There's a party in your tummy." And then I continue to say something silly like, "I think Mr. Banana wants to join," lol, but she just isn't having it.
I guess I will keep trying though and try different fruits to see if she likes other ones more.
