Has anyone ever used an electronic nasal aspirator?

A friend of mine said she really likes hers a lot more than the bulb syringes you get at the hospital.  DS has a really runny nose and I'm thinking of maybe going to get one.  What's your experience?  Does LO hate it even more than the bulb kind?  My biggest concern is speed.  Does it suck up the the stuff quickly or do you have to hold it in their nose forever to get the job done.  DS would never sit still for it.  Is it worth getting one?

  • I bought one for Riley and she definately didn't mind it nearly as much as the bulb kind.  It plays music and I guess is less intimidating than me in her face.  However, it doesn't do nearly as good a job as the bulb syringe.  It doesn't have nearly enough power to get everything out.  It will get out the runny, loose stuff but the bigger stuff in the back, I still had to use the bulb for.

  • I'm a failure as a mother when it comes to nasal aspirating.  I can't do it.  DH bought an electronic one and swears by it.  He won't use the regular one anymore.  DD doesn't like either one, but the electronic one gets the job done quickly and easily enough for DH.

  • I bought one and once LO felt the vibration/heard the nose I couldn't get anywhere near her. Our Pedi swears by it and he was suckered into by his wife and ended up loving it. With my next I plan on using the electronic one from birth so that LO will be used to it.

I otherwise haven't suctioned since about 10 months.

  • We have one and I LOVED it at first. Now I prefer using the bulb one that comes with the Little Noses saline kit.
