1st Trimester

Anyone not finding out?

We don't want to know the gender of our baby - we like surprises! I know this is going to drive all of our family and friends nuts, but I don't care. We'll probably tell them the names we've picked out for each gender though.

Anyone else not want to know the gender?

  • We are not finding out either. My hubby wants to know but I said I really want it to be a surprise! So he seems to be on board for the time being.

  • I'm a planner but after finding out with my previous children, I would regret not letting us experience this truly amazing surprise. So this time were doing it old school and will be surprised by husband announcing what it is.

  • We didn't find out with our first and it was great.  It was so awesome when they announced "It's a boy!"  With this preganacy I told my husband he can decide but I am hoping to stay team green.

  • We are not going to find out the gender either, we want it to be a surprise.
  • Haven't decided.  We were team green with our first two.  I am leaning toward finding out this time... we'll see...

  • We're Team Green. Neither of us want to know the gender. Some of our family members are sharing their disappointment with us, but they will just have to get over it! We're picking out names and sharing them.

  • We didn't find out with our DS and we won't be finding out again. It was such an amazing moment when he was born and we were just waiting to hear what the doctor said. It always cracks me up when people say they are finding out because they "need to know what to buy". I'm pretty happy with all our gender neutral swing, bouncer, carseat and PJs. We're set for whichever we end up having next.

  • I want to wait!  I just hope I have the patience for it.  I don't plan on sharing the names we pick out, either; I don't want to have to deal with unsolicited opinions.

  • We are team green!!!! DH says there are so few surprises left in life anymore. I don't think it will be that big of a deal to buy gender specific things after the baby is born.

  • We did not find out with DD and don't plan in finding out with this one either. It added such an element of suspense and surprise on the day of her birth that was alot of fun.

Will baby #3 be another girl?

  • we're still not sure if we want to know ourselves, but we're definitely not telling anyone. i do NOT want a sh*t-ton of Pink or Blue stuff that we don't need. we're doing neutral colors for a lot of reasons.

i read a good blog post on 10 reasons not to find out the other day.

  • We agreed we didn't want to find out until the very end. Some of my family is a little disappointed because they like to make stuff, but I told them neutral colors are fine. At least they can be used for the second if we have one. My sister thinks I'm crazy but we're also gotten a lot of kudos from other friends and family for wanted to wait.

I agree with InfamousQBert....it also cuts down on a lot of stuff you don't need or will never use.

  • I didn't found out with DS and won't with this one either.  I honestly think it's more fun when people I don't know don't find out because it leaves me guessing for their whole pregnancy.  My sister is due soon and I can't wait to find out what she's having.  It's more exciting to me than her telling me, "I'm having a _______."

Be careful with telling people names ahead of time - when it's not officially the baby's name yet, you are likely to get comments or even slight disapproval.  When you tell a name that is officially the baby's name, they keep their comments to themselves.

  • It is really exciting to have that surprise. Thanks ladies; you've made me even more secure in my decision!

  • My best friend didn't find out the sex of her baby and I was so inspired by her decision (and her ability to gracefully deal with friend and family that thought she was crazy) that I created an online baby gift registry just for her.  www.notfindingout.com.  There are people out there who will support your decision! Good luck and I hope you'll visit the site!
  • I'm leaning towards not finding out, but DH wants to know right away.  I'm not sure I could handle not knowing if he did :)
