Not sleeping when family visits

Why is it everytime we have people stay with us (which is rare, maybe every few months for a few nights). Her sleep is ALWAYS a mess. Last time was January and the 2 nights my mom was here, Lilly's woke up 3 times. She typically STTN. Last night SIL came to visit and Lilly was up a million times, up for the day early and took 2 very short naps today. What is going on? We use a noise machine and fan in her room, so don't think she can hear anything.

Maybe milestone related? She is 1 year tomorrow, is there any leaps associated with his point?

  • My guess is that she doesn't want to miss out on anything and that's why her sleep patterns change when you have visitors.

  • For us it often had to do with having someone in the guest room next to their room.  Extra people getting up to go the bathroom, the coughing, bed creaking, etc.

  • I think because the change in routine (ie different people in the house) is the cause. My sister stayed with us for 4 days a few weeks ago, and DD didn't take a nap (except sleeping in the car) on any of those days.
