With one L or two? I looked it up and apparently one L is the traditional Gaelic spelling, but two Ls looks more natural to me.
ETA: We're thinking about Andrew Callum Mc_______. DH is from Scotland and we thought it might be nice to give him a more obviously Scottish middle. I think it sounds really good!
Re: How would you spell Callum?
This was on our shortlist. I like Calum a little better, hubby strongly prefers Callum.
Both are legit, so don't sweat it!
Callum
I would be tempted to pronounce Calum Kay-lum.

This.
Callum, Andrew Callum is a great name btw!
LOL - I love the irony. You've spelled it how you view it needs to be spelled to post your question, yet you aren't sure--a problem that only comes with a message board!
I've always seen Callum and thought that was the traditional spelling. It's a very Scottish name, so if you like the LL, I don't think you'll have anyone saying "but you didn't spell it the Scottish way!"
Both are legit, derived from Columba. I prefer Callum.
