About 2 days before my daughter started refusing purees, I stocked up on them at the grocery store. Figures, right? Well, I've been meaning to take them to a food bank or woman's shelter, but last night I started thinking that there must be some way that I can incorporate them into meals for DD. She's not much into veggies these days, so I'd mainly like a way to add them into the foods that she will eat. She loves pancakes, and I figure I can add some into pancake batter, but I wondered if y'all had any other ideas... TIA!!
Re: Ideas on how to use purees in real food...
You could mix veggie purees with tomato sauce or melted cheese and put it on pasta. Or you could use veggies and some fruits for a sauce on meat and rice dishes.
You could mix fruit purees with milk and regular oatmeal too.
pancake, muffin , loaves. You can also add a lot of the veggie kinds to pasta sauces, potatoes . Pretty much can be added to anything
I mix veggies into pasta... you can also add some cheese melted with a little butter and milk.
As for fruit, mix into hot cereal or plain yogurt.
I add fruit purees to plain yogurt and oatmeal; I spread butternut squash puree on the bread when making grilled cheese; I add cauliflower puree to macaroni and cheese; I make pasta with yellow squash puree and parmesan cheese; I add carrot puree to pasta sauce.
