Girl name help...

My child is going to be born nameless.....

I know we still have a lot of time to decide on a name, but nothing seems "just right" or even close to being "the name" at all.

Did you feel 100% about your name choice?  Do you ever have second thoughts?

I thought I liked the name Kylie the most, but on my poll it is the least liked name.  Is it because the name seems to little girlish or just not your style?

DH is NOOOO help either.  Whenever I bring up a new name he says that it "sounds nice".   Nice?!  Like nice in that you don't hate it or nice like you want that to be your daughter's name?

Re: Girl name help...

  • I know a Kylie, and she's adorable.  I think it's a cute name!

If it makes you feel any better, I'm due on Monday, and we are undecided on a boy name (there are 5 we like), and like two girl names!  I'm sure once we get to hold baby it will be as clear as day!

  • Sometimes I look at Ella and wonder if we picked the right name (does she look like a .... instead?).

I wouldn't go by strangers or family polls... go by what you like.

  • I don't really like any of your names, they are not my style. BUT, I am not posting to say that really... I'm posting to say, who cares?! If you love it, go for it!! It's your baby :)
  • I am no help! I changed Norahs name last minute b/c of the popularity of Ava...lol! Girl names are so hard!! I love Kylie, it was actually one of our top choices and we made the mistake of telling people it was one of our options and more than once I was told it was a "stripper name!" omg people...gee thanks...sometimes I wish I had just kept it to myself! Go with your heart and good luck!!!

  • Personally, I think the name Kylie is too "cute." ?It's fine for a little girl, but what about when she grows up to be a professional? ?A cutesy name won't serve her well as an adult.

That being said, ignore what everyone else thinks and pick whatever name you like best:).?

  • We didnt' pick Ben's name til he was about 9 or 10 hours old.   We had it narrowed down, but I wanted to wait.

Go with what you and DH like.  Don't ask your family if htey like it b/c they'll ruin every name you pick.

For my taste, the names you have chosen, except for Lillian, are all just too trendy.   But, I like more "normal" names... thus, Ben.  :)   Some people think that's too boring or common.  I don't care.   :)

  • I like all of your names :)

DH and I had both Kaylee and Kylie on our list. We also had Keira and Kaitlyn but we ended up choosing Kaylin because it was a little less common and it it has some family meaning as it is a combination of DH's dad and aunt's first names. Plus, Kaylin was a name I could see her growing into, and she could go by "Kay" or "Lynn" when she is older if she finds it more suiting.

I sometimes had second thoughts before she was born but I never feel that way anymore. Kaylin is perfect for her... and besides, we usually just call her munchkin or a variation of it anyway ;)

  • Dh and I didn't name Liam until after he was born. We just had a few in the running. Mostly because I doubted Logan's name after he was born and felt like everybody was calling him Logan before he was born and I couldn't change it. So we called Liam "Beans" throughout my whole pg. My cousin and his ex wife couldn't agree on a name. It took them almost a week after they had their daughter to finalize one.?

You name your child what you want to name them. The name is just the beginning of a long list of things other people won't like or disagree with.?

  • My 2 cents....

I didn't vote Kaylee or Kylie because I feel like there's a ton of them.  I like Lily but not so much Lillian (unless it's named after someone than that's ok).  Kinsley is CUTE (although it makes me think on Kinsey! Ugggg!  Haha)!  I LOVE Makenna but I like the spelling McKenna better.  McKenna was at the top of my girls list!

I'm opposite of Jill though and I like more unique names over traditional names.  Every single person will have their own thoughts so go with what you feel is right!  And don't tell anyone a name that you "might" go with because, like the PP said, people will start calling her that and then you'll feel like you can't change it.  A couple of my daycare babies were named this way!

I was definitely worried all the way up till Gage was born if it was "the" name.  We went in with both our boy names, Gage & Crew, but didn't make the final decision until he was born.  You don't have to have it picked before she gets here!!  You can wait and see what she looks like!

Good luck Laura!   I know it's hard!

  • The name Sydney was actually my second choice and DHs first (my pick was Megan) and up do the day she was born I had doubts but I feel like she's grown into her name and now I wouldn't have her any other way.

Kylie isn't my style but it's a lovely name and if it's what you like then that is what you should name her. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. My FIL has commented on more than one occation that Sydney is a boys name, I just turn a deaf ear to him.

  • We didn't finalize Audrey's name until she was born.  I had my 1st choice and DH had his.  Audrey was actually our compromise name.  ;)  I held out until she was born, that I would get my name.  (it was Adleigh BTW.. it came to me in a dream)

But alas, we've had ZERO 2nd thoughts!

I liked not telling anyone our name.  We would throw out our top choices, but since we didn't have it narrowed down, no one knew for sure (heck, we didn't even know!)  We did not tell anyone our compromise name though.

I actually found out later that my mom knew what it was as she came on the Nest and looked at my bio and found the name poll I had!  SNeaky, sneaky!

    Go with what YOU want!

  • BTW... Ashley's spelling of Makenna is our last name!  :)

It's funny since it has become so popluar when I give my last name to check in somewhere, they always say "no, LAST name"  That IS my last name!  (even Audrey's Dr once called her McKenna as her first name!)

  • I like Kylie.  It does seem a little "young" to me, I can't really explain why, but it's not little girlish or anything.  Maybe because my friend's little sister was named Kylee.

I wasn't always 100% sure about our name.  We were batting around a few different names - our other top contender was Isabella, but that was so crazy popular and didn't really flow with our last name.  Plus Mikayla was always a favorite name of mine.  I did a lot of writing the names out, saying them outloud, yelling to call them to dinner, and Mikayla Jean just sounded right.

I'd keep a list of names you like, and maybe give it a little break and come back to it.  One will probably stand out when you see it.  :)

  • Oh, and I'm with TakH, I like quirkier names over super traditional.  I didn't bother with a name poll because I knew that very traditional names are really popular right now so I figured the ones I liked wouldn't be everyone's style anyways.

I really like Kinsley, I heard that name the other day and thought it was really cute.  :)
