Do you know anyone like this?

My SIL is beyond crazy. She has a 3yr old daughter who she can barely afford to care for. Now she and her new boyfriend are trying for a baby. He's currently on house arrest for violence towards an officer and possession of drugs and some weapon charge. I can't stand the guy, he drinks like a fish and is alwasy trying to get my DH to fight him "for fun". I'm pretty sure he's lying about his military past (I'm pretty sure he lies about everything) My SIL is always saying how jealous she is that I had a boy and it's not fair that I'm pregnant again. We only "hang out" with them to check up on my niece and make sure they have food for her. If you know someone like this how do you deal with them? Do you point out the crazy or just nod and smile? I really wish my niece had a better mom.

This sounds alot like my cousin but there are no kids involved thank goodness. My cousin is married to meth/heroin addict who beats her up. She refuses to leave because they love eachother. Might I also mention that this man went to prison for 10 years  for robbery, and he has kids from another relationship. She is so proud of the fact that her step daughter is call girl!! Everyone in the family has tried to help her get away from him the last 3 times she has left him, and she always goes back. This time we have learned to just shut up about everything, and let her lead her own life.

If their were no children involved I would just look the other way and let her make her own mistakes. But I feel like I need to say something for her daughter's sake. She also announces to the family every 5 minutes that she is pregnant and then 1/2 a day later she had a miscarriage.

Good Lord please help that child.

I can never understand why people would want to bring a child into such an unstable environment. I mean, I get that accidents happen, but actually trying for it... Ugh. Makes me sad.
