well Its hard to believe that a year has ZOOMED by!! Im very proud of myself that I have made it a whole year nursing..my goal was 6 months..and Ive been able to keep it up for a year...

so now what are some tips on weening him off?? he loves his sippy and has no problem depending on it when im not around...so when i asm around he will fuss and try to get me to nurse him...Ive tried cutting out an afternoon session which worked 3 days and then he caught on. he doesnt take a nuk or anything just sucks his fingers...Im at a loss..

The daytime nursing sessions were easy to drop kinda one by one over a few weeks. But we went through a very rough week when we ditched the middle-of-the-night back-to-sleep suckle. Lots of crying and pretty much trying to rip my shirt off. All I could do was cuddle him and rock until he fell back asleep. BUT on the positive side, it did only take about week for him to catch on and then not wake up at all at night.

My son doesn't take a paci either. He's a thumb sucker.  I think during the day, your best bet is the art of distraction. Maybe give him a snack or a little cup of milk or water or just break out a fun toy. If he's waking at night and wanting it, DON'T start the trend of getting him a cup at night because that will be just as hard to break.

Congrats on going the full year! I was in the same boat where I thought I'd do it just a few months. But then we discovered a cow's milk allergy, and I was too cheap to buy soy formula (and I liked burning a zillion calories a day and not having a period, so we kept nursing. SO glad I did!

No advice because my DS decided at 8 months to self ween so I've been EPing since and its such a great accomplishment.  Congratulations and reclaim your boobs!
