Pregnant after a Loss

Folgard??

Any ladies know about Folgard? I've been doing a lot of research on what I can do to try and prevent another chemical pregnancy and I've read stories of women that added that to their regimen and it seemed to do the trick....my regimen already includes BA and prometrium. Thanks in advance!

Re: Folgard??

  • I've been on it since April. It's just FA, B-6, and B-12 broken down and thus easier to absorb if you have issues with folates (a common problem for MTHFR ladies).

  • Yes..my Dr. said that my homocysteine (sp)? was not bad, but not where she wanted it to be. Can you get it in CVS or do you have to get a script?

  • I'm on a generic version of it. I was on Foltabs for the earlier part of the pregnancy, but the doctor said the pharmacy must have given me the wrong thing because he prescribed Folgaurd, which has a high dosage of folic acid. I'm on that and baby aspirins for clotting disorders though. Do you have a clotting disorder or are you just wanting to take it?

  • I don't have a clotting disorder but she prescribed me 81 mg of BA Prometrium 200 2X a day and either folgard or foltrate because my BW showed it's on the lower end..I'm willing to try ANYTHING at this point! Thanks for all your input! Another question that sounds silly but after my 4th m/c they did a whole panel of bw and nothing showed up abnormal, is it possible for it not to show up? I'm wondering if I should get another panel done?

This except I've been on it since my MTHFR d/x last month. My OB gave me the prescription so I have not looked if it is available OTC, but I have read on MTHFR message boards that OTC does exist at lower doses. If you don't have a clotting disorder, I'd look for the OTC kind. It's probably alot cheaper too.
