Anyone been away from their LO for a week or more? How did it go?

I'm going on a trip to Scotland with DH in June for 9 days and I am excited, but all I can think about lately is how much I am going to miss DD.  I'm a little bit of a sad and worried mess, so I would love to hear from others who have been away for that length of time and how it went for them & their LO.

My first time was right before she turned 1.  We went away to the bahamas for a week.  My parents stayed at our house.  I was sad.  I wasn't so much worried.  I just knew i would miss her like crazy...but also knew that dh and I needed some alone time together (plus for a friends wedding).  I was sad when I was on the plane because I heard a little baby cry and it made me miss dd so much.  But as soon as I got off the plane...i was in vaca mode and had such a great time.  I texted back and forth with my mom and she sent me pictures.  You can always use Skype with whoever is watching your LO...Good luck! you will be fine.

We went to Cancun for a week a year ago and are going again for a week in a month.  The alone time with DH is priceless and was awesome for our marriage.  My mom flies down from Michigan to watch LO and she loves being able to do that as well.  Of course we missed him but it's nice to have some time to yourself.

We went to Hawaii for a week when DD was 4 months old. It went really well!

Thank you so much for your responses...this makes me feel better.  It sounds like it's almost easier once you leave and get to the destination.  I am also really excited for the time with DH.  I know it will be so nice!  Thanks a lot ladies.

I left my 2yo for 4 days and I was a wreck beforehand, but it was no big deal once I left. I'm leaving my 1yo and 2.5yo for 4 days this Saturday. I'm not as freaked, but I sure am sad! I know once I get in the care it will be fine. They will miss me but be just fine.
