I wish I had just let everyone pick their own dress in a similar color or something, like I had originally wanted to do. Instead, I let my sister, who had never been in a wedding and most likely never will be again, talk me into bridesmaid dresses (mostly so she could have the whole "bridesmaid" experience...including b!tching about said dress later. argh).
I'd do the same again. I told them to buy a black dress. I didn't care what it looked like - long, short, strapless, halter, whatever. I've never understood the need for matching dresses.

Honestly, I would do the same thing I did for my wedding - I picked a color and my only requirement was that it be a floor length. I loved that my bridesmaids picked a dress that they loved/looked good in. I am so not one that it is all into matchy matchy for a wedding party. I would rather my bridesmaid spent the amount of money they were comfy with and got a dress that they liked and might even wear again.

This is exactly what I did!! All the girls looked awesome b/c black works for anyone and they all choose dresses that flattered them. Actually two of the girls used dresses they already had. I had to laugh b/c a few of my mom's friends complimented on the dresses later, they didn't even notice the dresses were different!
What I will never understand is the need to have matching shoes and accerssories. One wedding we went to had all the bridesmaids in matching hairstyles too- weird.

Neeser - that's pretty. I would probably go for something like this.
