Sleep question

I know it's been asked before, but it's my turn to ask; what does your toddler sleep in. Mikey sleeps  in an inherited sleep sack and I only just noticed it's sized for up  to 18 months - he's 20 months and big. Embarrassed

He doesn't look too big for it, but I guess I should start eyeing other sleep sacks. Or is he ready for an actual blanket? If your kid sleeps with a blanket how do they keep it on them? Don't they toss and turn?

Sarah sleeps in sleep sacks and will do so for some time, she moves so much and doesn't cover herself with a blanket. If we cover her when we put her to bed, it would be off her in a second, as she stands or sits up in her bed, and rolls around in her sleep. Sarah's is also for up to 18 months but still fits fine. We'll buy another sleep sack (the one where they can put their feet out and walk around properly) next.

    I just saw those. Interesting.

Miller has a blanket.  He usually stays covered, but DH gets up at 3 am for work so he always checks and sometimes has to cover him again.  He doesn't seem to move around too much until he's starting to wake up.

Charlie sleeps in fleece footie pajama and loves them.   Maybe that's something to try, since they're a little better for moving around in.

He also has a big fleece blanket that he can't sleep without.  Gets downright mad and stomps his little feet when I don't give it to him.   He's had blankets since birth and can't sleep without them.

But I do still use the motion detector monitor on him... just in case he gets in trouble with the blankey.   Most of the time he's fine, but once in a while he gets a little wrapped up in it and will wake up and cry.  He also cries if he gets out and gets cold.

Yeah, Mikey moves around too much when he's  sleeping. He's still in our room so I can hear him banging around :(

We don't need the motion detector since he's in our room. He sleeps with footed jammies now, but that seems like a lot for the coming warmer months - even if he had a blankie and kicked it off.

IDK, I think I might get a blankie to try it out but also get some of those sleep sacks with the holes in that Kathi suggested.

In the meantime., time to put my kid in his too-small sleep sack.

While Michael is not as old as your Mikey, we have always done footed jammies.  In the winter we use the fleece kind but on the warmer nights we had, I put him in footless cotton jammies with socks.  The benefit of the socks is that it gives him something to do when he wakes up (taking off the socks) so mommy can sleep a little while longer.  I have tried blankets in the past but Michael would get himself tied up in them and wake himself up.

Footie PJ's and blankets. She has two crocheted blankets that she just loves. She stays mostly covered but sometimes I have to cover her again in the night. She is too long for the sleepsacks I've been able to find. Maybe we needto look into the ones where she can stick her feet out. LINKY?

Fleece footed pj's with a heater in his room set to 75.  His blanket isn't for warmth he uses it as a pillow and snuggles with it like a lovey even though he has 2 pillows in his crib.

Fleece footy pj's and an aden and anais double ply muslin blanket (best blankets ever, we have 4 ply, 2 ply, and single) When it gets warmer we will switch to a single ply and cotton pj's. It is always cool at night so he will wear long pj's even in summer as he doesn't actually stay covered.

We moved out of the sleep sack when Finn started standing and walking.

Noah moved into a big boy racecar bed and now wears normal fitted cotton pj's and sleeps under like 3 blankets.

Keegan sleeps in fleece footed pj's but also wraps himself with his blanket (knitted by my mom).  He covers himself from hair to toe in the blanket.

Sarah sleeps in fleece footed pjs and her fleece sleepsack. Her room is at 70 degrees but she sleeps much better when she is warm. We do that summer and winter, as it doesn't get hot here in summer and her room is pretty much always at 70 degrees.

We got rid of the sleep sacks a long time ago. Adrian outgrew them and he also tripped over himself a lot when he was standing up in his crib. He's just too big and active to be in a sack anymore so we just use blankets, the regular fluffy baby-sized kind, not crotcheted or anything. Honestly, he's so strong that he can push that blanket away no problem. And it's small enough not to get tangled up in it.

I dress him in a white short-sleeve onesie and either cotton footed PJs or two-pieces (and socks) in the summer or fleece footed PJs in the winter. Plus the blanket. And we keep our house warm at night, so LO is pretty cozy in his crib. If he's cold he wakes up so I try to avoid that.

Oh yeah, and he does end up with the blanket all over the place, or underneath him. Which is why I dress him warmly so that even if the blanket comes off he's still OK. There's really no way to keep the blanket on him all night, he tosses and turns too much.

My LO is only 13 months, and still sleeps in a sleepsack.  I intended to have him sleep in a sleepsack until he's at least 2 years old.  He'd just kick a loose blanket off like his big brother did.  Halo makes ones for toddlers now with feet, if you wanted to try that.  But they also makes bigger regular sleepsacks too.
