getting married at 34 weeks, need to avoid dress crisis!!

So I am getting married at 34 weeks, and I have FINALLY found the perfect dress!! The only problem, this is a BUDGET wedding, the dress is only $80 plus shipping from China, but I need to order it somewhere btwn 24 & 30 weeks. How much will I grow in that time? I think I will get the corset back done, so that it will be better adjustable for sizing, but Im a little freaked out. I was gonna get it bigger, but apparently its a HUGE thing to get it taken in at all cause of the style.

 Any advice??

  • Unfortunately, nobody can really tell you. Does the dress have A LOT of growing room in front?

  • imagelittle nudger:

That looks really super cute and it looks like it has plenty of room for growth in it. Wait until last possible second to measure for it and it should be OK. :)

  • I would just make sure you go a size bigger and have a tailor back home make corrections for you if need be.

  • I was going to order bigger, and get it taken in, but apparently to get it taken in they have to take apart the whole dress, and basically remake it. I think I will order it with a corset back, at least that should give me an extra 3-4" of growing space, and order it as close as I can to the wedding but enough time that I will get it in time.

Someone mentioned to me, what if it doesnt look good (style) the style looks to me like it would be ok for most sizes, and types, as long as it can accomodate my HUGE boobs. LOL

Thanks everyone for the advice, keep it coming!!

  • I would wait until the last possible minute to order it and go up a size if I had any doubts.  I am sure there is a way that a talior could at least make some minor adjustments. Once you order it too small there is just nothing you can really do about it.

With that empire waist style, I would just make sure that I had plenty of growing room for the girls.

  • Ok so im no expert, but i had a similar problem, i needed to order a bridemaids dress for my sisters wedding in ireland, i live in states and we ordered from China, is this sounding familiar, i was ~14w when i went to the tailor to get measured initiatlly and had no bump the wedding was on March 11 (21 weeks) but i was leaving for ireland at 21 weeks so dress had to be finished two weeks before i needed it!

My tailor measured me the bust was the main concern but they told me to get the biggest size i could and he would take it in.  before pg i was ~size 12 i bought a 22W and my tailor had no problem taking up the dress, taking it in (he put darts in the back so at the last minute if i needed them taking out it would be easy to adjust the back).  Nobody noticed it was adjusted.  The empire line you have chosen (its a beautiful dress btw) is very forgiving in the bump area.  Basically what im saying is i dont understand why your tailor is making a big deal, my tailor said opening it at the zip is a lot of work but if you use darts instead they should be able to make it work.  HTH
