EMOMS sale - I have questions!

For those of you that have been before, or plan to sell/work this one, I need tips!  Is it reallllly worth it (the standing in line, the crowds, etc?).  I am looking for baby gates and possibly some other bigger items, as well as winter clothes.  Are the prices that great? (more garage sale price (low) or consignment sale price (higher)?)  What time would you plan to get there?  Are the lines long to pay?  I anticipate waiting for awhile to get in, but I'm curious if the lines to pay are equally long?  Also, what do you do if you want to buy a big item but then don't want to lug it around the whole place with you?

Sorry for the stupid questions, but I'm just trying to give DH a timeline of how long I'll be gone (and he'll have to watch the baby) and what I'm in for!  Thanks!!!

Re: EMOMS sale - I have questions!

  • I'm wondering the same thing! I don't know if I feel like standing in the lines and waiting around.....hopefully someone responds!?

  • I haen't been to the emoms one before, but I went to the snomoms one last weekend... We got there early to stand in line... we broughta stroller - it was a little hard to get around people with it... they give you a ribbon to put on your stroller/carrier so they know you came in with it... they had a hold station for you to put down your bigger items...I didn't find the prices on some of the bigger things all that great, but we spent $20 and got a large bag full of winter clothes and a couple of toys.

If my ds didn't have a soccer game this weekend I would go to the emoms one - it was worth it. Maybe bring your mom or a friend so you can divide and conquer.

  • Oh -  time wise... we were in and out in an hour... the line to check out was long but they had a system that made it move pretty fast.

  • I've heard the EMOMS sale is much more chaotic than the SNOMOMs last weekend, because it's 10x bigger.  They dont open doors until 10am and the lines start forming before 8am.  Yikes!

I'm going.  If you don't have anyone to stand with, you can hang with me.  :) I should be in line around 8am with my coffee and my laundry basket.  I want to bring my backpack with food, water and coffee but I don't think they allow those in...

The clothes are really inexpensive - I don't think I spent more than $5-7 on a brand-name outfit, and most were less than $2.

I wasn't looking at the big toys and gear, so I couldn't tell you how much those go for, but EVERYTHING was a good deal I could have easily spent $100-200 if I were to go crazy but I didn't have enough space in my box.  Thank god!  lol  As it was, I spent $47 and got between 30 and 40 pieces of clothing.  BARGAIN!

  • Oh and it's cash or check ONLY, so be prepared!
  • I'm so excited!  I just read on the EMOMS site that you can't bring shopping bags in with you - so that's kind of a bummer.  Maybe I'll bring my Snap and Go frame in with me and use it as a cart.  Ha!  I plan to get there close to 8AM (I'm coming with a friend - she used to be a Nestie - bsbabe).  I hope its not TOO cold tomorrow morning!  See ya in line!  ;)
