Girl - my oldest daughters name is makaya, pronounced like mariah but with a k..not very common, yet lol

WHAT?! How do you get Mariah out of Makaya?

  • I think she means it's pronouced the same way...the "kaya" rhymes with "riah"... so instead of it being pronouced Ma-kay-uh, she wants people to know it's Muh-kai-uh.

  • You don't. I've seen and heard some pretty off the wall names; in general, in spelling and in pronunciation in my first year teaching alone. But I'm....really still trying to figure this one out. I guess if you break the k apart....no...I don't know. This little girl is going to be very confused...

    And here I am, 7 minutes later...still trying to figure out how this works.

    dude I live in the neighborhood right across from the music hall! I probably see your parents like, daily. Too weird....

  • I understood it as rhyming with Mariah. Like PP said, the kaya would rhyme with riah, instead of pronounced kay-uh.
