Help with RSV

My sweet baby boy had his 2 week check up today and we were told he looks great and perfect but he was diagnosed with RSV which needless to stay scared both me and my husband very much. Especially when the doctor talked about the possibility of him stop breathing. I know it's a virus and we just have to watch him and ride it out but do ya'll know of anything we can do to help him with his symptoms? His poor little cough and stuffy nose just kills me. Maybe a humidifier or something?

Use a cool mist humidifier, keep his mattress elevated, saline drops in the nose.

  • Use a cool mist humidifier. Non medicated saline drops work great too to loosen up nasal secretions. I would use the baby qtips to get out an drainage from nose... bulb syringe last resort as recommended by her pediatrician. If he sounds really congested take his clothes off run a hot shower and just sit in the bathroom with him this will also help loosen things up. I wasnt comfortable having my DD in her room when she had RSV so we put her in her lamb chair in between DH and I in our bed so she was elevated and close by. Her pediatrician also recommended having her sleep in the car seat. Its definitely scary. I would talk to your pediatrician before giving any water but mine was fine with me giving DD a few sips after her feedings to loosen things up in her throat too. Hope he gets better soon!
