Just looking for some personal opinions. I know Tommy TIppie is the latest and greatest and has been in Britain for awhile, but I also know the Playtex drop ins have stood the test of time.
I realize that there may be a longer term cost with the drop ins, as you'll have to replace the bags, but I got less than satisfactory reviews with the Tippies when doing research.
Just looking for personal experiences, good, bad, and ugly!
Thanks!
Re: Tommy Tippie vs. Playtex Drop ins
I've tried both and prefer TT (though we now use Born Free).
Personally, I wouldn't stock up on one brand. Baby may only take a certain kind of nipple, or might take anything but you aren't going to know until they are here.
I'd get one or two of each and see what will work before buying a ton of them.

LO is EBF and loves the drop ins, she prefers the nipple over any other bottle we've tried. She takes them all but latches on immediately with no confusion to the playtex drop in nipples. I didn't have any issue measuring stuff because she's EBF. Our babysitter also loves them and also has no issues. We use the stiff drop ins that cost a little more as opposed to the plastic pouches. No reason, just bought those first and continued buying them. And I love the reduced amount of clean up, with pumping and everything, using drop ins really help out a lot at the end of the day when it comes to washing and cleaning.

This is my reason why we didn't like TT. Their shape is very awkward, so everything you buy has to be that brand. They don?t fit into a regular bottle insulator for your diaper bag, so you have to buy the TT brand, same with the bottle warmer, brushes, etc. I returned them. They ended up being very expensive with all the accessories you needed with them.
My advice is, get a few different brands and see which LO likes best. We went through about 4 brands before we settled on the Glass Born Free ones. We chose glass b/c the plastic bottles get gross & the smell of formula/BM is constantly there. It literally would turn my stomach making DS his bottles. Plus glass lasts longer and you can put them in the microwave with no worry.
We just starting using the Playtex Dropins occasionally when we go out.. only b/c DS can now hold his bottle and the glass bottles are too heavy for him to lift & feed himself.
We just stopped using the drop ins. I loved the convenience, but we also had issues with measuring and DS seemed to fuss a lot during feedings.
We are now using Tommee Tippee and so far I love them. DS is so much more content, eats more at every feeding and has less gas. I also love that they are a cinch to clean. We are supplementing with formula, and the TT bottles have this very convenient formula dispenser system that sits inside a water-filled bottle so you always have a fresh feed and don't have to worry about keeping the bottles cold. I haven't had any problems with the TT bottles fitting in my diaper bag's insulated bottle holder. They also fit our bottle warmer and I use a regular bottle brush. I haven't and don't see the need to buy any special TT accessories other than the formula dispersers.
We used Dr. Brown's (hated them) and Born Free (liked them), but the regular TT bottles have far less parts to clean.
