So, we had our IUI #1 scheduled for 8 am this morning. I knew my husband was going to be nervous. (When he was supposed to have his SA done, he had a hard time.) Sure enough, I though everything was going fine and then nothing. Of course he gets frustrated and we end up in a big fight.
After calming down, we were able to get it done and get to the clinic about an hour and half late. Luckily they could still take me. Then, they had a hard time finding my cervix, which was not fun. They did manage to get everything done properly. So now on the 2ww.
My question though, how does everyone handle the stress between you and your SO? I don't want my husband so stressed out about having to "perform" on cue. This was our first month of help so who knows how long this will go on?
Re: IUI done, after a stressful morning
We haven't had this issue so I can't respond to that portion but maybe you could have some frozen samples done just in case he gets "stage fright" in the future???
Glad it all worked out in the end and good luck in the 2ww.

Wishing the best of luck and baby dust!!!!!!!!!! My DH is the same, very nervous, he is practising for the last wk or so....i feel so bad for him, he had to do it once before for SA, we booked a room in a nearby hotel, it took what seemed like forever but he did, i hope and pray he will be able for our 1st IUI this wknd!!!!! It is frustrating and we do end up arguing also, its alot of pressure to be under, i dont have much advice because we are trying to handle it also but i just try and make it as sexy as i can for him and make it about sex! We are 21/2-3 hours away from clinic so we have to book a hotel, he cant do it on his own in the clinic, i feel your frustration, i hope it gets easier, again good luck this cycle ((hugs))
My heart is as open as the sky.
Read about it on the blog
2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.
Congratulations on getting it done! Now you can relax and think happy, hopeful baby vibes.
My DH also had a hard time with getting "it" into a cup for the semen analysis. He was nervous about it, anxious because of the 3 day abstinence period, and then had to get to work soon after. He knew I was waiting for him which didn't help. Later on it came out that he had to do acrobatics to make it go into the cup the right way. Ugh! We laughed about it later that night, but agreed to make it fun and a joint effort the next time (if there is a next time). We try to laugh about these things later - it makes it better for us.
Hope this is your month!!!

I second the frozen back up plan. Takes the stress off of "the big day" and then you're also covered if something were to come up that day and DH couldn't make it in to do his part. Our insurance doesn't cover the fees for storage, but it is worth it for the peace of mind.
I had IUI # 1 on Monday (although I think it might have been too late; I think I ovulated before that and they didn't repeat the ultrasound). Are you set up for a beta? Mine is 4/11.

We have had the same "performance anxiety" issues. The first time he had to do it, it was a nightmare for him. I was all anxious and "hurry up" and had the attitude "well, considering what I have to go through if the worst thing to happen to you is to have an orgasm in a cup..." No sympathy from me at all.
The next time I took a very different approach and 'helped' as much as I could (use your imagination) and it was a better experience for him. For me, I was still thinking, "hurry up already" but I faked it quite well. Some might take issue with this but the more relaxed he is the better the result.
Like another poster said, try to make it about the sex and not the end product.
