The world is making every boy name out there into a girl's name....why? There are PLENTY of good girl's names out there!! What is so sad about it, is that once a name is feminized it CANNOT become masculine again.
I saw a post a few things down about a woman that want s to name DD Brennan? WHY????
What's next? a little girl named Michael? YEP! as a matter of fact, a friend of mine just announced that she was naming her Daughter, Mycal. She is not married to her baby's father and his name is Michael. The baby is taking her LN so she wanted her to have something of his......WHY THAT!!!!
Have any of you heard perfectly masculine names become unnecessarily feminine?
Re: ::sigh::
While I like some masculine names for girls, I would never do it unless it was in the form of a nickname. Ex. Josephine-Joey, Charlotte- Charlie, Samantha- Sam...
But lately it is out of control! Sawyer, Ryan, Addison, Elliot, Ellis...Basically all the names I love are turning pink. We are having a hard time agreeing on any boy names because of this.
This. It's frustrating for us, and sad for all the little boys and girls out there that have to share names.
I agree with the NN thing, and certain names but it has really gotten out of control! I love your boy list, for boys!!
If people looked up the defintions of names they might not do it as often. I was telling my FI the other day that Ryan is becoming a girls name and he was less than thrilled. Probably because his name is Ryan. Also, I'm not sure about some of the other meanings, but Ryan means little king. I've never heard of a female king, have you?
To be honest though, when I was younger, I wanted to name my little girl something that could be shortened to a boy's name, in the event that she became a tomboy
I don't have a problem with it. In the South, people have been naming their girls mother's maiden names or other family surnames for decades. These names are decidedly masculine.
I have a good friend named Grayson (girl) who's 40. I don't really see it as a new trend.
