I had a doc appt today to go over my Lovenox (due to all my miscarriages) and the doctor said she noticed my thyroid was enlarged. She gave me a slip for b/w to check my TSH. She said its completely common in pregnancy esp. with twins bc our body need to produce more hormones. Anyone have this? SHe said i didnt have to get the bw done until i go for my GD test which is weeks away!
Re: enlarged thyroid during preg.?
I would get your thyroid checked sooner rather than later. See a regular endocrinologist if needed.
Not to scare you, but thyroid issues can cause miscarriages. Ideally, TSH should be between 1-2 during pregnancy.
I have thyroid issues and we've had to adjust my meds 4x so far this pg. I had to keep increasing my dosage because the babies use your thyroid to help their thyroid develop and grow. Especially carrying twins, your body gets all weird and needs help (ie. medicine like synthroid) to maintain not only your thyroid levels, but also the babies.
I'm on lovenox too for multiple clotting disorders and multiple miscarriages. I'm sorry for your prior losses and I hope this pg is your miracle one.
Mine was enlarged and overactive with my daughter, but ironically has stayed normal with the twins thus far.
With daughter it was all over the board, through the roof one week, normal the next week, slightly high the next. And I was super sensitive to the medication so my levels went all over the place taking less than 1/2 the normal dose. It is not something to worry about if you have it under proper monitoring and control. But I agree that you should not wait that long. I had my blood drawn every week with Sydnee because it was so eratic.
All that being said, about a month or so after pregnancy all returned to normal and has been ever since. This pregnancy I have it checked every 3-4 weeks just to make sure.
