Bear is constantly smacking me in the face (or who ever is holding him). Has anyone else experienced this and have suggestions? Telling him no isn't cutting it.
I've just started trying to figure this out too. Last night I had some success with "gentle" instead of no. I showed her "rubbing" and told her gentle and tried to teach that. I wish I had an answer
I give a firm no. She may also get a time out and I will put her down when I am holding her. That upsets her because I have taken away what she wanted or the situation she wanted to be in. If she is trying to get my attention by hitting me, I make sure she doesn't get it so she will know that hitting me won't get what she wants. She always gets a hand squeeze and a very firm no and I get on her level and say it to her so she is really looking at me,
Last week, she smacked me right in front of her speech therapist and then later clawed my face(I call it the wolverine). Not cool. Not cool at all.

DD started this several weeks ago. We got her to stop by saying "no" firmly and then setting her down (or walking away if we weren't holding her). After about a week of this, she stopped.

I came in looking for suggestions and you just described DS to a T!! He has recently taken to smacking me in the face and "wolverine" (love that!) my face during speech therapy. He's done it two weeks in a row now. We think it may be frustration that he can't express what he wants. Whatever it is it needs to stop.
Re: hitting in the face
My DS does the same thing. "NO" isn't working either. I'm going to keep telling him NO and hoping he grows out of it!

Hope that helps, and good luck!
