I need to vent.

My DH is from Nigeria, and this summer, we're planning to bring his parents and older brother to the US to visit.  It's going to be rather expensive, so we're trying to find ways to cut costs wherever we can.

We have a travel center here on the Army base, so I went in there this morning to see how they could help.  The lady I worked with was so lazy.  She seemed so reluctant to do any searching or find real information for me.  The info she DID give me was the exact same info I found from home.  I even saw her go on to cheaptickets.com.  Hello!  I can do that at home!  Why would I waste my time coming in to get the same information??

The real kicker was when I asked if she could find a flight from Nigeria to here.  She basically told me that they probably wouldn't be able to book tickets from Nigeria, because the country is unstable and there's bad people from there.  Then, she said "well, they brought it on themselves!".  This was the last straw.  This is my family.  They are not terrorists, they are not murderers.  They did not bring their country's instability "on themselves".  They're freaking school teachers, for heaven's sake.  They can't control what goes on around them.

I'm so angry.  This woman gave me her card when I left, and I threw it in my purse, determined to call and speak to the manager when I got home... and then I found out that she IS the manager.

I'm writing a letter to the company now.  This is totally inappropriate for ANY employee to do, let alone the manager.

That is absurd.  I'm sorry, I would be furious.  Is there someone you can call, like an owner or something?  Perhaps someone on the base should be notified?  Ugh.  Some people suck.

That's some crap.  I would not have taken her card.  When she offered I would have said 'I won't be needing that'.

First thing I told her when I walked in was that my family was coming to visit from Nigeria.  The rest of it I just sent them in a scathing letter.

Wow! I would have ripped her a new one right then and there!  This is your family, not some email scammer you met online.  That is completely unprofessional.  Even if she is the manager, there is always someone higher up.  I hope you follow through with reporting her.

I'm not sure if the Army has something like this, but I know on the Marine Corps base here we have an interactive customer evaluation system (ICE) and you can go onto the website and give them feedback about your visit (good or bad). You can do it for every single place on base, including the McDonald's. So I would look into something like that. I've always gotten feedback about any negative reports and you can see how other customers have rated their experiences to get an idea of what to expect.

I hope something is done about it. It's ridiculous how awful and rude people can be and just get away with it.
