more ? about baby gas and poo

I have been noticing a pattern with DD....she goes 3-4 days between poops, which I know is normal in an EBF baby.  But the day before she poos, she has awful smelling gas, is much fussier, and just seems generally uncomfortable.  Once she poos, she is better.  Gas drops don't help.  She doesn't seem to have issues having the BM.  And the poo looks normal to me.  The nurse, who is also one of the LCs, at the pedi office thought this all sounded normal, but she was going to run it by the doc.  Has anyone dealt with anything like this?  I have eliminated some things from my diet, but I can't imagine it's related to my diet since it only seems to happen the day before she poos.  I just feel bad for her that she's so uncomfortable....any words of wisdom would be appreciated!
