Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Swim Floats?

What do you all use for your toddler? My DS is going to be 18 months when we go to FL in June, he is 16 months now and at his 15 month check up he was 23lbs. Any suggestions? TIA!

Re: Swim Floats?

  • Last year, we had this for our DD: (https://www.amazon.com/Nemo-Spring-Float-Kids-Boat/dp/B001P396FG) which worked great. She was 2. We tried a vest, but she HATED it. It's pretty big, and the bottom is mesh, so they have water to splash in. You'd still have to have a hand on it, but wouldn't have to hold your DS. (that wouldn't work for our DS anyway--he doesn't want to be held!) So, we'll probably go that route this summer for DS, and try the vest again with DD.

  • I just got back from Florida yesterday. It was my son's first time in the water and I was worried he would be timid in his own float so I found this Aqua Leisure Baby & Me Combo I noticed at Babies R Us. It partially goes around you and he sits in a seat right in front of you with a toy in between.  It's nice because you can totally relax in it and swim around while little one kicks and splashes the water.  He LOVED it!  It says 6-18 months so unfortunately you wouldn't get much use of it. It was only 12.99 though so might be worth it to you.
