Status Update:  Thanks for the good luck wish.  Unfortunately my ET has been canceled due to poor lining.  I'm on my Lupron and estrogen patches and now Estrace until next Monday in hopes that my lining fluffs up and gets to where it needs to be.  If all is good next Monday then ET will be on Friday, April 8.  If lining is still poor, then ET will be scrubbed all together and we'll have to sit out a month or two. 

 

QOTW: What is/was your biggest concern about using DE/DEmbryo/GC? My biggest concern was are we wasting time and energy?  I've never ever had a positive pregnancy tests so I constantly I ask myself if we've made the right choice.  But I know in my heart we have.  We have been given an incredible gift from our donors and I'm glad we're giving this a go.  I guess what it means, if it doesn't work, is that I will never be left with the question "what if".  We'll have done everything we could.

Qotd: I worry that J will think he is different and be upset with me for choosing DE. But then again, I "know" more and more people are using DE so maybe he won't be the only one after all. Update: J is out of his helmet and his head looks great!

I had my first lining check this morning and everything looked great, now I can start my estrace pills and am looking forward to feeling better and having the hot flashes subside a little.  Tentative ET scheduled for the 12th of April.  

Qotd: Like BRSaugust I also worry about DD feeling different and not understanding my choice to use a donor.  I worry about how I am going to approach the subject and convey the details of her "story" in the right way.  But the very hardest part for me is is the thought that she ( and hopefully her sibling/s) could reject me as her mother or throw in my face someday that I am not her "real mother".  Where as her father is.  That would destroy me.

Update: I start lupron on Friday for DE cycle #2.  I really hope this goes better this time around.

QOTW: My biggest fear is that it won't work. If it does, I will go on to other fears, but right now, that is my fear. With the exception of two very early c/p, it has been one BFN after another. At this point, it is hard to imagine this will ever work.

Status: I'm having a hysteroscopy tomorrow to determine if thing in ute is a polyp or something caused by the fibroid. I greatly hope it's a polyp so I can avoid future surgery and a long recover from it. Send me polyp vibes!

QOTD: Like pps, my biggest fear used to be how it will affect my child, will s/he resent me or think I'm not his/her 'real' mother, or feel different. I also worry about how society in general views DE and how that will impact my child. Of course, this is even assuming that DE will work for me; so now that is my biggest fear!

UPDATE: Our first u/s on Monday revealed two sacs. One was much smaller than the other and the u/s tech said that it could go either way. The larger sac was measuring right on track. We are hoping to see two healthy heartbeats on our next u/s (4/4).

 

QOTD: I think my biggest concern is my kids feeling different, or resenting me for not knowing the woman to whom they share a genetic link. I worry about this WAY less now than I did at the onset of our DE process, I would say that this has been my biggest worry.

Update: Things seem to be going fine.  I have an OB appt. on Thursday, and our anatomy scan is scheduled for April 19th.  We are feeling excited (and a little scared!) overall.

QOTW: This is a tough one (why did I do this question anyway?   Actually, I'm not that concerned about our kid(s)'s reactions.  I don't know why, but that fear has dissipated for me some.  I think at this point I'm more worried about other people's reactions - either making comments about who the baby does (or does not) look like or somehow judging us or the baby if we have revealed DE (and DS) to them.  I just don't know how I'm going to feel over the years with all the comments people make about who the child looks more like, what qualities of each parent he/she has, etc.  I do sometimes feel jealous of people who are having 100% genetically related kids since this would be something they wouldn't have to think about so much.

QOTW: What is/was your biggest concern about using DE/DEmbryo/GC? I guess my kids rejecting me because I'm not their biological mother.  Kids can be really mean at times and I have a feeling that will be thrown in my face.  I also have a concern for a birth defect/disease/issue (Autism, etc).  I will love my child no matter what but that is always a fear in the back of my mind.
