WHAT TO DO???

At the beginning of the pregnancy I decided to go for the VBAC,but I have changed my mind.Last week when I went to my appt,my doc could barely stick one finger in my cervix. My doc told me that he likes to schedule c-sections between 38 and 39 weeks if I wanted to change my mind.I think I have changed my mind.I dont want to go through all those hours of labor and not progress. So now I'm trying to decide on the date I should schedule the c-section.I thought a friday would be good so my other boys wouldnt have to be in school for the rest of the week...Would it be terrible to have my baby on April 1st??(april fool's day)Im 38 weeks and 3 days today

Re: WHAT TO DO???

  • Why would that be terrible? I'm actually kind of hoping my little guy decides to come on April 1st. I think it'd be a fun birthday.

  • Why are you convinced that your body won't progress? I don't think how far you've dilated weeks before your due date is indicative or whether you can have a successful VBAC.

This. TONS of people aren't dilated even a little before they go into labor, and progress just fine.

I'm going for a VBAC, a don't get me wrong, the choice is all yours, but I don't think I would change my mind for this reason.

  • I guess because I have come so close and ready to give up.I just hate to take the chance of labor and dont fully dilate.Im so anxious to meet my princess
  • I'm miserable being pregnant and ready for it to be over. So Im thinking about taking the easy way out.
  • Maybe April 1st isnt such a bad day..I really like that day.
  • I'm a little confused as to what the question really is.
If you're asking for opinions on whether to do the c-sections or teh VBAC, I agree with PP's that even though you've had no progress as of yet, that means nothing. You can go from 0-10 quickly after your water breaks from what I understand. So don't let your closed cervix sway your mind one way or teh other. Ultimately, this is a decision you and only you can make.

As for being induced/having a c-section on April 1st - I think that's a fantastic birthday! 4/1/11!! I don't know what everyone thinks is such a big deal about having an April Fool's day baby - it's just another holiday but it being your LO's birthday is what will make it special. Kids tease each other for everything and if thats all your LO will be teased about consider yourself lucky. Think of how much fun you can have when LO is older using it as a theme for his/her birthday. IDK, I see nothing wrong with that date.

  • The question was really on the date.Yea 4/1/11 sounds pretty cool.I never thought about it that way.About having the VBAC..I'm just scared because the doc says he cant really help me progress. He said I have to do everything on my own, because he doesn't want my scar to rupture. So I'm thinking about how am I gonna do this on my own.Last baby I was induced and only dilated to 3 and that was it.C section it was...now Im just ready to get this baby out.lol I feel like I'm literally about to bust open.I am but so small and its so painful.
  • I don't think it's a bad day.  I'm having a c-section on Friday and scheduled it months ago purposefully on that day.
  • I'm going towards having the c-section instead of the VBAC and April 1st would probably be a perfect day. Most of my friends prefer having multiple c-sections than even going through labor, and I might do the same.I guess I will just sleep on it
  • I'm having my twins on April 1st (my choice) so I don't think it would be terrible to have your baby that day.
