Making something (heirloom/keepsake) with LO's clothes...?

Any ideas for something you can make with your LO's clothes after they outgrown them?

My two ideas so far are a quilt/blanket or a fabric scrapbook (just saw one where the mom printed photos and captions on fabric that you can send through your printer and then stitched them onto scraps of fabric.)

I would love to keep all of my favorite outfits that DD has, but I have way too many at this point.  Would love to be creative with it...any ideas?

  • A woman at work just did a quilt for her 18 year old as a high school graduation gift.  She had saved bits of clothing and blankets throughout the years.  I loved the idea!

  • I also love the quilt idea.  I have also seen people put the really special ones like baptism/christening gown in a shadowbox.

  • I have been saving 1 or 2 garments per size and will be making a quilt out of the pieces to give to him when he is older.

  • I am keeping some of my favorite (no matter what size) and am going to have someone make it into a quilt...I can't sew :(
  • I'm planning on sending a bunch of clothes from my son's first year to a seller on etsy who specializes in memory quilts.  She already made me a regular quilt for my couch that is gorgeous.  I can't wait to see what she does with his clothes.
