February 2011 Moms

A few things...

Who is back at work? Who has performed the deed? And last but not least, who has a MIL that is driving them CRAZY?!

I just got back to work today. It was so hard leaving JJ. He is with my mom for this week so I know he is in good hands. I managed to only cry once. I almost cried when I first got to work and everyone started asking me about him but I was able to control myself, phew!

DH and I did the deed at about 3 weeks. I know we're supposed to wait for the OK from our doctor but my DH, the researcher, read that it can be done within 2 weeks as long as mommy is ready. I was more than ready! It did hurt, kind of felt like losing my virginity all over again.

I had no problems with my MIL before JJ was born. Now all of a sudden she has all of these demands. She told me three things in particular that really ruffled my feathers; 1. It's tradition that she makes the first birthday cake (NOT happening!) 2. She will pay for piano lessons and he HAS to play for a year before he can decide he doesn't like it (NOT happening) and 3. When he turns 6 she and my FIL will take him to Disney Land for the first time and DH and I are NOT invited, do I really need to say it?! NOT HAPPENING!!!!! I'm not doing anything about it now, I'll deal with it when the time comes but I can't believe she had the nerve to TELL me these things and not ASK me. DH has no idea, I can't bring myself to tell him that his mom is crazy!

ps: I haven't posted or looked at The Bump in over 5 weeks and I have to say I absolutely love all the pics of the babies!!

Re: A few things...

  • 1. SAHM here, so I never left work!

     2. We tried it first at 3 wks, and then again at 6wks and that's been it. Not in any rush to lose sleep and waste energy on sex.

    3. MIL has been BSC for a long time, and it increases every year. We're going to visit family in a month and she's our first stop. DH wants to be there a week, but
I plan on having my mom take me for the last 3-4 days. I can't handle one whole week in the boonies with a drug-abusing crazy woman.

  • 1. I go back in 3 weeks 2. Not risking infection from the hole in my uterus. We can wait until the go ahead from my ob. Plus we'd rather sleep than have sex right now. 3. My mil has been amazing! MH is out of town and she calls to check on us and invited us to spend the night.

  • SAHM

We just did it last night. Didn't hurt at all and was amazing which was surprising.

BF's mom is actually wonderful. She is not pushy like I thought she would be since she is usually so pushy with BF. She is helpful but thankfully doesn't try to force her ideas on us.

  • I went back to work last Wednesday and it was really hard. I missed seeing my baby's smiles and cuddling on the couch all day. I didn't think I would have such a hard time with it, but I wanted to cry every time I was pumping or when people would ask about him. Also, it is SUPER hard to go back to work soooooooo tired!

We haven't done the deed yet. I had my 6 week pp appointment last Tues and doctor said I wasn't completely healed from the stitches and that it would probably be another month until we could do the deed. Is it sad that I am ok with this because I am so tired right now and all the pumping (I EP) I am doing makes me feel like I am a Jersey milk cow?!?! Not sexy!

My MIL has always driven me crazy! She has good intentions, which I try and appreciate, but I don't agree with the way she raised her kids and/or the way she interacts with her grandkids. I definitely don't plan on letting her babysit LO and the first time she treats my baby the way she does the other grandkids I am walking out with my LO.

  • Just got another 2 weeks at home from my OB!  I have to do a little working from home, but I'll take it.  Unfortunately the college students I work with never really understood maternity leave in the first place and have been bugging me the whole time...

We got a little frisky 2 nights ago with no intentions of actually doing it... when he got a little close it hurt this weird raw sore spot I have, and I nixed going any further.  I sooo wanted it for a whole month and now I have no real desire!  Sad.  Luckily OB says the raw sore thing is just healing tissue and is normal?

MIL only drives me crazy every other weekend when they come down for a day.  Probing questions about our parenting, and everything is questioned.  I actually raised my voice when they started questioning why our co-sleeper (the box kind that goes in bed with you) is on my side of the bed and not in the middle.  I know for a fact they'd argue it being in the middle because of the risk of DD being covered up/suffocated.  It's a lose/lose!!  Love them - they're great in general and supporting us financially here and there - but jeeeesus.  It's tiring!  And speaking of tiring, DD is always cranky when they leave because she holds her the entire time they're here, and will.not.stop.adjusting.her.  Her blanket, her arm, her foot.  Good god, let the child sleep!  And don't ever tell me "oh, she fights sleep, she won't sleep..." Who can sleep with someone manhandling them all the time?!

  • I go back in 2 weeks. I visited my class with DD and mom last week and I think I'm up for it. Mom and MIL are splitting babysitting duties until school is out.

Twice we've half way done it. Doesn't seem to fit any more... we'll work on it.

My MIL had a tough time with her MIL so she pretty much just stays out of it. We'll see how that goes when she's here 2 days a week.  Last night MIL came over with her in-laws (DD's great grandparents) and it was actually nice.
