They aren't doing internals at my doctor's office and I'm loving it. I don't want to know if I'm 2 cm. Then I'll be thinking about it all day! Right now I know nothing about my progress and don't care! LOL
I was all ready for one at 37 weeks, but my doctor didn't even mention it. When I had the Strep test at 36 weeks I don't think she checked anything then. Part of me wants to know if something has started...
I had some contractions and pinkish discharge last week so my Dr. checked. He otherwise would not have done an internal. I was not surprised to hear I was 1cm and thick.......
I haven't had any done, and I'm getting induced on Friday. They won't check me until they start the Cervidil . . . no point doing it sooner, because I have to get induced no matter what.
I'm 36 weeks and my doctor doesn't do internals until you hit 38 weeks. I have to say I would rather not know and may ask her not to tell me. I think knowing anything will just make me anxious. Sometimes ignorance is bliss!! When it happens it will happen.
My MWs ask if you want one. I plan to decline in the future, though I've had two just to make sure my copious numbers of contractions weren't doing anything too productive. One was at 28 weeks, one was at 34 weeks.
My doctor starts them at 37 weeks. My first one is tomorrow. Honestly, I know they don't mean anything but if I hear there is some progress I will be super super excited. I'm really worried of having a huge baby (even though my doctor says there is no indication) and that the baby won't even drop, that any progress no matter how meaningless it is will make me happy. I've only had two ultrasounds this whole pregnancy, I'm team green...i need to know something at this point.
My doc doesn't do 'em either. Personally, I love this, because it's one less thing for me to obsess over. HOWEVER, when I told my MIL this, you would think the world ended.
Seriously? I don't care about the state of my cervix unless there's a baby emerging from it, why the eff do you care?
I never held you, but I always loved you.

DEFINITELY not having them done. I can't even stand reading people over-analyzing their "progress" when quite frankly it means nothing.
Well in my case it meant something. I did not dilate at all for my first baby and it made my induction horrible. It was great to know that I am dialating and my body is doing something this time around even if I don't go before my due date.
My MW did one at 36 weeks to try and feel the sutures to see if LO was head-down (they don't have US machines in the office), and then I requested one at 37 weeks because I had been having timetable contractions for 3 days - I might not even have another one though... they prefer not to do them during labor because it can be a mental block if you aren't progressing like you "think" you should be
My dr. checks at 38 wks unless the patient is having contractions. I will be induced at 39 wks so there is no pt. in the internal and the dr. probably won't do one. She did none w/ DD1. I think I would refuse them anyway-it's false hope.
