Speaking of "Awake Training"

My DD has joined this club, some nights waking every hour some nights waking every 3 hours still... I get that she may be hungry but seriously, she was doing so good. She had an ear infection and then this started... Will it ever go away? Any suggestions? I am exhausted... She is FINALLY sleeping in her bed in her room, with her body swaddled and did so well for a week or two and now I just dont know what to do?

She is eating rice cereal or Oatmeal plus a puree (sweet potatoes, carrots or green beans) 3 times a day and still nursing like normal...

Is there a 6 month wakeful? Any advice is appreciated.

Re: Speaking of "Awake Training"

  • We have a routine every night too... Every other night she gets a bath, then we read her a story, I nurse her and she usually is asleep by the end of her feeding...

The only thing I am thinking is she isnt napping very well at night and she has been in bed much later then usual...

I may have just answered my own question?

  • Loading the player...
  • In our experience (at least, early on), each bout of illness/teething/etc. required starting back at step 1 (or maybe step 2-3), as it relates to sleep training. The farther out we got, the shorter/less "painful" (for all involved) the re-Ferbering experience.
  • I've never had to ferber C... she just sort of adjusted... might have to ferber her now... but I am going to try putting her to bed earlier again tonight...

That sounds like a good first step.

  • This is my life right now too, and has been for about a month. Nora used to sleep all night, no problem. Now she's up 3-4 times/night.

    For example, last night:

    Down to sleep at 7:30

Up at 10, nursed back to sleep

Up at 1, soothed back to sleep

Up at 3, tried to send in DH to soothe, he gave up, nursed back to sleep

Up at 7 for the day.

*Once I'm done with my job I'm going to try to get her on a nap schedule during the day and we're going to do the Sleep Lady Shuffle. My heart can't take full-on CIO.

  • no help from me. Nathan still wakes up 3-6 times a night and gets meals during the day as well, hes 7 1/2 mo
