anyone read the book or watch the DVD? Is it worth it? I know everyone swears by the Happiest Baby on the Block. Just curious about the toddler version?
I just started it so I don't have a lot of feedback but so far it is interesting. I never read Happiest Baby on the Block because DS was so easy.
"Normal day, let me be aware of the treasured day you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart...let me hold you while I may."
I started reading the book, but wasn't having much luck with the techniques. I asked the pediatrician about it at DS's 15 month check-up and the Dr said it was too early for those techniques to work. I'll probably start reading it again in a few months, though I think there might be better books out there. Imo, Happiest Baby was genius and Dr. Karp is just trying to capitalize on the success of that book with Happiest Toddler. Who knows though.
We use it and it has been working wonders for us! Buy the book not the DVD. The DVD was useless to me just left me more confused and didn't go into near as much detail as needed.
I like how the approach changes based on age and personality type of child. We don't do exactly what he does word for word but we adapted some of it like Fast food rule , bed time sweet talk and the learning patience. We only use the toddler-ese when DD has gone off the deep end. It may be shock and awe with it but it works and her tantrums have never been more than 2 minutes. I think it is worth a read and just do what works best for you!
