XP: sleeping issues

OK so I'm going to talk to my doctor about this tomorrow when i see her but I've been having a lot of trouble sleeping lately. This isn't really an issue with not being able to find a comfortable position. The issue is more that LO seems to be on the exact opposite schedule as me. He's pretty calm during the day and then as soon as I start to relax for bed he wakes up gets at it. So all night long he's flipping around in there. And then come like 3 or 4 in the morning I start to get this really uncomfortable like pressure or cramping, almost like my stomach is hardening. Its not really painful, just really uncomfortable and it wakes me up over and over again from that time on.Does this sound like braxton hicks? Is it weird to only get it at night? Our room is really really dry. We have a humidifier that we keep running all day and all night now but it doesn't really seem to help, I still wake up super dehydrated so I'm not sure if thats whats causing it. I keep water by my bed and try to drink a little every time I wake up. Its just really annoying and I'm now exhausted from several nights of this.

  • It sounds like he's getting up prepared for sleepless nights when he's on the outside! No, no just kidding.  The tightening of the stomach does concern me because that is what happens during a contraction, so I would definitely tell your doctor as soon as you can about that.  The only other thing I can think about is, since you said your house is so dry, maybe you're getting dehydrated at night, hence the muscle contractions, so maybe you should be drinking water all through the night to avoid dehydration? (I know, I know, like you don't have to pee enough)

  • as far as you LO being on a different schedule than you, they definitelly are.  your movements during the day are soothing to them so they sleep.  when you're still at night, they're awake.  there's not much you can do about that.

as far as the tightening...that does sound like BH contrx to me.  i get them through the night sometimes too.  are you drinking enough water during the day?  sometimes if i don't drink enough water in the evening i get more at night.  so i try and chug some water before bed.  it sucks because i wake up more often to pee, but i'd rather pee than have the BH contrx all night long.  try drinking more water around bed time and see if that helps.  i'd also talk to your Dr about it.
