Tylenol cold during pregnancy???

I am hearing conflicting information about whether Tylenol Cold is safe during pregnancy.  The receptionist at my Dr's office just told me it was okay, but I am not sure which one to get.  There are so many varieties (severe head cold, cold and cough, multi symptom, etc.) and I read that you aren't supposed to use Multi Symptom drugs during pregnancy.  I am 8 wks and have not slept since I can't breathe and need some relief tonight!  Can anyone help me?

Re: Tylenol cold during pregnancy???

  • I'm not sure what exactly is in Tylenol Cold (there are like you said, so many varieties) but I was also sick during my 1st trimester and I was allowed to take regular Tylenol and Sudafed together (the pseudoephedrine version that you get behind the counter; not the phenylephrine version).
  • My CNM said no, but if your doctor said yes, I'd listen to them.  Can you call back and ask to talk to a nurse?  I was told I was only allowed to take regular Sudafed (the nice behind the counter stuff), Tyelnol (regular not cold), and Benedryl when I was dying of a sinus infection.  At least the Benedryl plus Sudafed knocked me out for a day and a half.  Smile

  • I know this is a late response but my doctor says anything made my Tyelnol is fine when you have a cold. ?I hope you feel better soon. ?If you want I can send you my complete list of what is approved.
