We have a Co-sleeper Bassinet that DS sleeps in at night right next to our bed. We swaddle him before putting him in there, but we keep his arms free because he can't stand having them restrained (and they told us to do this when we were in the hospital). I put him right in the middle of the bassinet on his back, and somehow when I wake up, he's managed to move himself all the way to the side of the bassinet closest to my bed, and he's lying on his side instead of his back. He's only 10 days old! I didn't think it was possible for him to be so mobile at this age! It freaks me out because I'm afraid he's going to suffocate on the side of the bassinet. Any advice/insight??

Re: How is this possible?
My theory on swaddling is that if you think they don't like it - it isn't tight enough. We thought the same thing about DD but then we swaddled her tighter and that did the trick. I know many people that have done the same thing and it worked the same way for them.
Babies still have that startle reflex for a few months - so by them having those jerky movements it could cuase him to move around. I wouldn't trust it though, he's too little to be able to get himself away from something if he should get squished. Can you try rolling up some receiving blankets to keep him planted in the middle and away from the sides?
