Has anyone out there come up with good strategies to avoid/cure them? I know that's a tough question because people have them at different levels and in different ways, but I am SO tired of having a headache every day.
Luckily, I've only had 2-3 migraines since BFP (and I'd only get one 1 or 2 times a year before that), but I have a moderate to severe headache 4-5 days a week. Tylenol does VERY little for me unless I take it right away when one is coming on. I've tried the caffeine trick as well to varing degrees of success.
I think it might be tension related, so perhaps massage would help? Any advice is welcome. Thanks!
Re: Ladies with headaches...
I'm sorry you have to deal with headaches, they suck. I wish I had some advice but I haven't found much that helps me. I have horrible migraines and have had numerous since my BFP. My neurologist had given me demerol and phinnegran to take but they do nothing to ease the pain, they just knock me out. (I'm really missing my migraine meds these days)
My H is super sweet though and rubs my head, neck, and shoulders for hours on end when my head hurts. It doesn't necessarily make the pain go away but it definitely helps relax me and prevent it from getting worse.
At night I'll either take Tylenol PM or just benadryl (which is the PM part of Tylenol PM) to help me sleep through it. Usually mine take a few days to subside though.
I hope you can find something that helps you.

I called my OB about my migraine this morning. I was concerned that my BP was 140/86...but she thinks that was just stress of being in pain for 2+ days. She called in a script for Norco for me...but I don't really want to take it.
Cold compress on my neck helps. I have two rice sleeves with lavender and chamomile in them. That is a GODsend!
My hubby rubs my head for me, and that is the best.
Mine are also somewhat linked to fatigue, so I take unisom or benadryl at night when I can't sleep (which has been almost every night lately). I'm just hoping that they will start to ease up in the magical place of the second trimester!
Ah I feel your pain. I get them daily, sometimes worse then others. I have noticed that if i have TAD bit of diet coke it goes away, I try to have a few sips before it gets really bad. I have also been trying to drink as much water as possible, I am getting super sick of it though. I also have been taking tylenol frequently to help them, especially at work.
Best of luck with the headaches
Thanks for this advice. I will ask my Dr. about it at my next appt. Bummed to hear that they may get WORSE in the coming weeks/months!
Snuggle.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news
That is just what I was told. She told me that the hormones peak in the second tri, so they could become worse. I am not really a normal headche sufferer, so this is hard for me! I almost had the same reaction as you in the Drs office. I will get mine for 3 days at a time and almost feel like migranes! I was taking Tylenol every 6 hrs for 3 days and just thought that was too much, and it really wasn't taking care of it completely!! I was also told to stay hydrated, eat a small snack, etc. but felt I had tried everything. At least there is an alternative if you need it......Good Luck to you with you headaches too!! They are no fun!!
Your welcome...hope you have some relief soon!! Sorry for the news that they may get worse....just thought you might want to know. Good Luck!
My OB told me to take tylenol and lay down in a darkened room on my left side (helps your BP go down so that can help if it is part of the problem), but that is not always practical. I try to drink a bunch of water, take some tylenol and I will drink a can of coke too for the caffiene. I had a really bad headache in my 3rd trimester last time and actually got sent to L&D by my OB, they gave me IV fluids, a diet pepsi, and some percocet, there was another lady there with a migraine that was crying, but refused to take anything, they basically told her to go home and tough it out since they could not help her. I was glad to have the percocet.
This time I have been having some type of headache every day pretty much, and a lot of pain/tension in my neck and shoulders, I cannot wait until the second tri so I can get a massage. I am going to talk to my OB to see if there is anything better than tylenol I can take at my next appt.
This pg, I feel like I'm having migraines--they are absolutely dehabilitating. I've found that putting a cold compress (I just ziploc a bag of ice and wrap it in a washcloth) over my eyes lying propped up in bed helps.
The only thing I've found actually works for me is acupuncture. I went Sat. morning and she treated me for a migraine. Wow. Felt great afterwards.
GL and hope you find some relief soon!
I have Fioricet too. It has been a miracle drug for me when I have needed it (I'm in the same boat with a 3 yr old and work)
