I know both are accepted spellings...my only aversion (read: DH is complaining about it!) to Colin is the whole colon pronounciation. Collin to me looks more like a last name...thoughts?
I've wondered the same thing. We're thinking about Colin/Collin as our next boy choice - we have a cool ancestor named Colin (with one L), but I worry about the pronunciation. I'm not sure what we'll do.
I', 90% sure I want Colin, but I don't know if I have it in me to argue with DH about 1L vs 2, you know? if that is the only way he'll go with it. I think we will do 1L, but I was just looking for opinions : )
I'd pronounce both, "call-in", not sure how you'd get colon from either spelling.

This is what I think also.

2IF does not always equal 3IF...Surprise!
I like one l personally. I think anyone who would pronounce that like "Colon" is an idiot!
Thank you kindly.
I did study on this.
1 L is Traditional Irish (like Colin Farrell, Colin Firth-though not Irish himself. I digress)
2 Ls is American/surname.
The main reason my husband chose 1 L is because 2 Ls is feminine version of names usually.
Whoever pronounces Colin as Colon is a moron. They's probably also pronounce Virginia as Vagina and Volvo as vulva. I wouldn't worry too much about people that can't read anyway.

I am laughing really hard at this because my sister just named her baby Collin and she added the extra L because my other sister and I kept calling him "Colon" just to tease her. I would be nervous that people would call him that since it's how Colin Powell's name is spelled, but I think most people who see it would know that it's pronounced Coll-in. If they don't, they're not too bright and I wouldn't worry about it.
