Does anyone have any experience with expressive language disorder? My daughter is two and we are receiving services for speech delay (since she turned two) but I think that it may be more than that. Looking for someone with some experience!!!
My DD is 28 months old and has delays in receptive and expressive speech. Her full diagnosis is a genetic disorder that involves global delays, though - the speech stuff is a part of that. But we've been doing speech therapy for 19 months now, so I've definitely gained some experience!
My daughter is 29 months (almost 30) and has not been diagnosed with ELD yet. And perhaps that is not what we have. However, she does not talk very much. Every once in a while she will strand three or four words together but in general she sticks to one and two word phrases. And with most of her words she drops the beginning or the end sounds. We had tubes put in in October, not knowing that she was having ear infections but the hearing tests have proved to be good since. Kind of lost as to where to go from here. Do I try and meet with a developmental pediatrician? Stay in the county system for right now??? I met with a private speech person in December and she encouraged me to wait till March to meet with her again. I am very frustrated at this point as her lack of speech seems to stay constant.
Does she relate to familiar adults? Play appropriately? Motor milestones met on time? Has her receptive language been determined within normal limits?
By "she does not talk very much," do you mean that much of the day she is silent or she babbles and uses inflection? you just can't understand? or she uses a lot of single words?
What makes you think you may need to see a developmental pediatrician? I'm just trying to get a bit more of the situation. Did the speech pathologist do an evaluation? what were the results? Why are you scheduled to see her again in March - for a re-eval/to assess progress? Since March is almost over, I assume you will be meeting with her again soon?
Re: Expressive Language Disorder???
I'm a speech therapist and there are others here who may be able to help. What are your specific questions?

What do you want to know?
Is her lack of speech/language your only concern?

Are you in an EI/ECI program currently?
