Re: diaper size opinion/help please!

  • Size 2 or hold off all together.

My DS never wore newborn diapers at all. He was 8lbs 11oz at birth.
Also, you don't know if your LO will have any reaction or allergy to what you've bought. I wouldn't want to waste money on stuff I couldn't use, just to get a good deal.

  • Buy the size 2s. It's better than wasting money on diapers your LO might not use.

  • Get the 2's, your LO is sure to not outgrow them too quickly.

  • Return them all and get cloth =)  With the money you've already spent on disposables you could have gotten enough cloth diapers from birth to potty training. =)  FYI they aren't gross anymore, the new modern cloth diapers are cute, and easy to use.

  • My LO was actually 6lbs 2oz at birth so we used the preemie diapers for awhile because she swam in the newborn ones. I will probably get more when my time is a bit closer because I don't expect this one to be a lot bigger just because I am small and my DH isn't much bigger.

  • I would buy some wipes.  Wink

  • I would have to agree with getting size 2 diapers.  My first was 9 lbs 5oz. and the newborns were a joke. HAHA!!

not to butt in, but there are plenty of women who would have loved to cloth diaper but cannot because they work and their infant goes to daycare.....most daycare do not accept cloth diapers.  Just saying because the 'gross' argument is not the only reason a woman might choose disposable.

now, to the original poster, I'd go with 2's also so you have a base stock of all the sizes....often a baby will zip through one size and stay in another for a long time.  You don't want to end up with too much of any one size.

  • Here is a list that I went by.  I do think you may have too many newborns. But hopefully you can exchange or donate them.

I started stocking up before researching and I think I may have too many nb as well

    Diaper Goal    Have    Need
    N - 36-38          96    Done!
    1's - 400-500    432    -18
    2's - 540-630    622    Done!
    3's - 1085-1260    1180    Done!
    4's - 945-1085    888    -127

In my baby d link you can get an idea of what brands and stuff if you need more info. After researching I also found that size 1-2 ends up to being a waste as well. Hopefully this isn't the case for you.

Of course, so much depends on the size of your baby, but DD1 was 8lbs and was in NB until she hit 10 lbs - a least a 2-3 weeks, so we definitely went through more than 100 NB, but we probably only started out with about 40-50.  It will also depend on how soon you come home from the hospital, we were home less than 24 hours after she was born, so used more NB than someone who spends a few days at hospital  Also, DD and all my friends LOs were in 4's FOREVER so that's always a good size to buy if you find a good deal but don't want to get too many of a smaller size.

I highly highly doubt this!!!!  I have only spent $43.00 so far!
