So for the past three nights I have put LO on the toilet at a time I know she has to go (right before bath time). The first night she peed much to her surprise it seemed but she was really excited afterwards with lots of giggling. We clapped and hooray'd and danced. Last night she got fidgety so I took her off and she peed as soon as I put her down in the empty tub. I did praise her for trying and we clapped together when I took her off the toilet but before the tub. Tonight I really put some effort into distracting her when she got fidgety and she did pee in the toilet but she was not all that happy when I was trying to praise her and clap and hooray, etc...She wasn't unhappy nor did she seem upset, but it wasn't the happiness from the first night either.
So my question: Which night (the second or third) was the better way to handle this? Take LO off the toilet as soon as she is fidgety? Or try to distract her through the fidgets? I really think the fidgets are coming from her needing to go...
Re: Another potty training question...
I think she likes sitting on the toilet. She runs directly to it every time we enter the bathroom now. And she bounces and giggles when she is up on the toilet. I think the fidgets are coming from her not knowing what to do about peeing but knowing she has to go.
